What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Tignes is a super fun resort. A massive ski area suitable for whatever ability you are or style of riding you fancy. The snow tends to be good all season round and when it dumps there are plenty of off piste options for those inclined.

My favourite resort. It has something for absolutely everyone . From fresh groomers to the apres night life. Everything is easily accessible and bus service is good to get about as well. Always snow sure due to the high altitude

Tignes in December!
Surprising amount of fresh snow and powder days for the time of year. Have to be careful of the off piste snow depth in places - a few scrapes & scratches on the base of skis. Well worth it though to experience the lovely powder.
Pistes were well groomed and a reasonable variety of food options on the mountain at various cost levels. Lots of food & price options at base level. Lively apres ski. Aspen good for lunch stop and Marmott for apres ski, with some live music.
An all round excellent resort catering for a wide range of abilities.

Tignes is an excellent ski resort for intermediate skiers, offering a vast and varied terrain with plenty of wide, well-groomed blue and red runs. The interconnected area with Val dIsère provides endless opportunities to explore, so you wont feel bored. Highlights include the slopes around Toviere and the scenic descents from Aiguille Percée. The high-altitude location ensures reliable snow conditions throughout the season, though the weather can occasionally be harsh. Lift infrastructure is modern and efficient, but it can get busy during peak times. Off the slopes, Tignes has a lively, practical vibe with good après-ski options. Perfect for building confidence and enjoying the mountain.

Been to Tignes resort 4 times now, both with family and friends. Theres plenty of places to stay to suit all types and multiple villages, e.g., Le Lac, Val Claret with budget friendly to luxury options. With a shuttle bus you can visit all of them to suit eating options and bars. Coco Ricos never disappoints as apres. Snow and groomed runs are always plentiful as its generally on the safe side in altitude.

Overall Tignes is a well-rounded ski resort, connecting with multiple other resorts each side of the mountain. There are plenty of options for food and apres ski, multiple mogul fields and plenty of of piste areas while still offering beautifully groomed fast or slow pistes. There are also multiple ski parks for all abilities and styles, definitely a place I would visit again!

A quality resort paired with val disere. Great mix of runs and terrain across the mountain, although things seem to get pretty icy regularly and maybe isnt such a beginner friendly resort as others.
The lifts work great and allow seamless travel through resort this also translates across to the free buses in town.
There a plenty of food and drink places to enjoy at night, although it can be pricey, like most places in the region.
I really would recommend the resort if you are searching out some great skiing!

Great pistes and similarly good off-piste options. Some good apres options with cocoricos and folie douce in the val-disere resort accessible by multiple lifts. Main down side is lack of tree runs but this is due to the altitude which ensured great snow year round.

Tignes ski area offers lots of hidden gems. Long cruisy runs all the way down to le breveier Where you find some of the cheaper places to eat and drink for lunch.

Night life is okay but not as lively as the other resorts. Great place to get some proper ski time in.

I have been to Tignes multiple times and have loved it more and more every time. We usually stayed in Tignes 1800 to make it a little bit cheaper and you can still ski pretty much too your accommodation with a short walk. The runs in Tignes are what makes it for me, there is such a variety which means that you can ski different time every day - you can also get a ski lift pass into Val D'Isere which also have some great runs! Tignes is a very snow-sure place which made me more comfortable booking there knowing that there will be plenty of snow!
There are also plenty of photo opportunities -the Tignes sign and the Aguille Percee Hole in the wall were our favourites. Also if you are there for NYE, the fireworks display and DJ is the best I have ever seen - I would just advise not to get the bus afterwards as they are absolutely jammed and had to wait for over an hour in the freezing cold! There are alternative methods to get back to your accommodation if you're in Tignes 1800 eg taxi (pre-book).
In all, Tignes will always hold a special place in my heart!

Tignes has a huge amount of piste for all levels making it perfect for someone just learning to ski / board or someone with lots of experience. On top of this it has amazing apres with folie douce just a lift over into val disere and places like coco ricos making sure you have a great time. However be prepared to spend a lot as drinks here are definitely not cheap!

Overall a good resort for all round snowsports. The architectural sights are very brutal as with the concrete appearance. Eating is best off the hill. Early season can be cold wrap up warm.
