What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Surprising amount of fresh snow and powder days for the time of year. Have to be careful of the off piste snow depth in places - a few scrapes & scratches on the base of skis. Well worth it though to experience the lovely powder.
Pistes were well groomed and a reasonable variety of food options on the mountain at various cost levels. Lots of food & price options at base level. Lively apres ski. Aspen good for lunch stop and Marmott for apres ski, with some live music.
An all round excellent resort catering for a wide range of abilities.
The lifts work great and allow seamless travel through resort this also translates across to the free buses in town.
There a plenty of food and drink places to enjoy at night, although it can be pricey, like most places in the region.
I really would recommend the resort if you are searching out some great skiing!
Would recommend going up the Grande Motte.
Night life is okay but not as lively as the other resorts. Great place to get some proper ski time in.
There are also plenty of photo opportunities -the Tignes sign and the Aguille Percee Hole in the wall were our favourites. Also if you are there for NYE, the fireworks display and DJ is the best I have ever seen - I would just advise not to get the bus afterwards as they are absolutely jammed and had to wait for over an hour in the freezing cold! There are alternative methods to get back to your accommodation if you're in Tignes 1800 eg taxi (pre-book).
In all, Tignes will always hold a special place in my heart!
Runs for all abilities and huge amounts of off piste.
Great apres scene with some really reasonably priced bars.
Options for all budgets and accommodation types across Tignes too
