What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Val Claret has cheapest accommodation
Half board is better than self catered because supermarkets are expensive
Bloody brilliant apres.
Highly reccomend !
Brevieres is quaint, 1 lift up to le lac. Le lac is quite compact as is val claret but studio apartments are relatively good value for money. The ski area is unreal, driving over the dam is breathtaking. The slopes are wide and well groomed with something for everyone!
Spring riding is like no other- take your sun cream!!!
Tignes forever ️
The best range range of snow sure slopes, groomed, ungroomed and off piste. Completely beautiful mixture of high mountains and tree areas. Excellent quality guaranteed for all the critical elements of your trip.
Excellent tuition from small kids getting started to off piste with a world class competitor. My absolute favourite place in the world (and summer is pretty awesome too!)
Even over the New Year holiday, the lift queues were fine, with options to find quieter areas.
The only downside is that its more expensive to eat out than, say, Austria or Italy but the quality of skiing makes up for that, in my opinion.
Also there is a great selection of pistes/trials for all levels
Most hotels are ski in ski pit and how could I forget the Follie!
Tignes is one of the best places in Alps in my opinion
