What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Excellent resort. The resort is at a high altitude so snow-sure. Full of great blues and reds which connect closely with each other and allow for fun journeying without sacrificing quality skiing - compared with other resorts covering lots of ground doesnt seem to involve having to use dull traverse runs.

Having worked in Tignes for 5-6 weeks over the last 2 years I can confidently say its the full package. Great variety of slopes, awesome apres options and is a safe bet for great snow all season long. The only downside is that is doesnt rely have much tree skiing, however thats expected with it being a higher altitude resort.

Great resort, expansive with well groomed wide piste to suit all abilities. Definitely a step up technically from experience of Swiss, Austrian and Italian resorts, but cant recommend enough. We stayed in Les Brevières at Tignes 1550, which was slightly cheaper with lots of accommodation options but only a few bars and restaurants, meaning apre requires a trek up to Tignes 2100 or Val Claret. Easy to get across to Val disere where the skiing was excellent! In our experience there was little to separate the blues from the reds, they were much steeper than other resorts but fantastic to ski, the reds especially. Id avoid the blues late afternoon due to crowing and lots of moguls. All in all, great resort and still plenty to explore for next time.

I have been going back to tignes year after year with family and friends. There is such a huge area to ski with so many slopes to cater for all abilities. There are so many choices for live music and fun Apres life, you will always be out. The local restaurants are amazing and just what you want from a resort. Tignes never fails to be the best holiday ever, I cannot recommend this resort more highly.

Tignes is a great resort for anyone looking for an intermediate experience. The snow in January is really good, some of the best in France, and it makes for some fun skiing throughout a week trip. The apres is great fun, with Folie Deux in the direction of Val Disere and Coco Rico in Val Claret, both offering a big soundstage, live music and happy crowds. Beer prices arent too unreadable either. If youre a beginner, you may find Tignes may be a bit challenging, as there arent too many greens and the blues sometimes overlap with red skill level. However, there are nursery slopes you can get started on and lots of instructor options. Overall, its one of the best resorts Ive been to and is up there with the likes of Val Thorens.

Tignes is a great resort for off-piste especially. There arent a lot of easy runs, but the few there are are long and very pretty. We almost never waited in lift lines (we were there in March). The town has a pool/spa complex which is affordable, but not very luxurious and often crowded. We do plan on returning since it is such good value and has such good expert terrain.

Amazing resort and great for learners in Tignes itself with connections over to Val disere for more experienced skiers. Best resort in France in my opinion. Glacier skiing is also an option. Be wary of transfer times on weekends though.

Tignes is such a great location for beginner skiers. There are lots of runs to choose from. We found the most perfect quiet run where we would see only a few people. I will say that there are lots of families skiing in Tignes so if you're looking to ski and party, you might prefer to look into somewhere else. My only regret is not getting an apartment with catering facilities as the restaurants in Tignes are super expensive and the food is average.(Other than A La Creperie Bretonne and Kodo - They are delicious!).

Tignes is a resort for real skiers and boarders - amazing runs all over the mountain and all of Val Disere to easily explore. Snow came down so heavily on one day half the lifts were closed but meant we had some incredible powder days. Main worry is the lack of aprés in Tignes Le Lac. Val Claret has a better range, so if thats more important then book there.

As a seasonaire in Tignes resort, its great to have such a varied area of skiing. The Apres is great also, I favourite place is Cocoricos in Val Claret. Another massive pro here is the free shuttle buses. They help us get about after apres. If you dont ski/snowboard there are so many options - my favourite being TigneSpace in Lac - a massive sports centre.

Went for new year had a great time although the villages were fully booked the slopes didn't feel too busy and the new year fireworks were amazing. We stayed in Tige Le Lac getting back home at the end of the day if we went to Val was a bit long unless you fancied the black but meant we got plenty of skiing in 40km average days.
