What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Awesome place and awesome scenery, would definitely go back! Tignes offers amazing skiing, a lively après scene, and year-round activities. Its high altitude guarantees great snow, but it can be pricey and crowded.

It had been a few years since I had been skiing and I found there was a good range of runs to ease back into it. Apres ski was brilliant.

As someone who hadnt been skiing for about 20 years, I went to Tignes last year and LOVED it!! Am completely hooked and need to go skiing again soon. We had really good powder, theres an excellent range of slopes- plenty of greens and blues for me and reds and blacks for other members of our party further up the mountain. The blue that runs all the way from top to bottom is brilliant, I felt like I was flying!! Ski hire and accommodation was ski in ski out so dead easy. Ill book lessons next time

I went to Tignes with family the last week of January and it was perfect. There are plenty of runs which are particularly good for advanced skiers (loads of reds, decent amount of blues and blacks) as well as great off piste routes. There arent that many green runs so wouldnt recommend coming if you are a beginner unless youre happy to stick to the same runs.We stayed at Club Med which is ski-in ski-out and highly recommend! You can join lessons at any level, go on daily snow guides or pay for private. The hotel has brilliant options for couples, singles or families with great facilities (hot tub, sauna, yoga, spin etc).

My first time skiing ever and it couldn't have been better at Tignes! Everything was convenient, instructor was great, and the slopes were really varied. You could also easily get to Val D'Isere if you wanted to!

One of the best resorts in Europe for getting the miles in, a huge ski area to explore and good lift connections to neighbouring Val dIsere (as long as the wind doesnt pick up).Snow conditions were excellent in January 2025, nice cold temperatures and regular snow meant great snow both on and off piste. Some of the French apartment buildings are quite ugly and theres not much skiing through the trees due to the altitude, so its not the most picturesque of resorts, but if youre after quality skiing and lots of it, Tignes is perfect.

Stayed in Tignes 1800 twice this ski year and had a great time. Its well connected with frequent buses and chair lifts. Ski quality has been great and the area is fantastic for connecting to Tignes and Val disere giving you plenty of runs to ski around on. Had the best time!

Such a lovely ski holiday! There is a wide variety of slopes and zones to explore, with stunning 360 views. The piste is not too busy, and overall the lifts are efficient. Gondolas allow beginners to effectively explore most areas of the mountains, as reds are more commonly the way to ski down into the towns. The glaciers are stunning and very exciting to ski. Would definitely come back for some more skiing!

Big resort with great connections over to Val D'Isere, however for being such well known and renowned resorts, the lifts are quite old and slow. It's definitely an intermediate resort, there are options for beginners but not many as a lot of the greens are high up the mountain. Snowsure with being at such a high altitude and having the glacier, even when they've not had snow recently there are still ample off piste options. Tignes is made up of different villages, the best to stay in in my opinion would be Val Claret, the highest, as it has great access to all the slopes, most of the accommodation is pretty much ski in and ski out, and if you are looking for apres and nightlife this is definitely the best option. However Le Lac is a good option for a slightly quieter holiday with plenty of places to eat, and the buses are very reliable if you did want to go to any of the other villages for the night. There are barely any drag lifts for anyone whose snowboarding that's a bonus, just as said before, the lifts they do have seem a bit dated and slow. It took a lot of travelling to finally get decent run in, with the best option being Sache, a 10km black on the far right of the piste map, otherwise you find yourself very quickly needing to get a lift back up after what seems like a 30 second run in a lot of the resort.

I have been going tignes for around 9 years with my family, first learning to snowboard there. Its really beginner friendly and has great slopes. With the option of going over to Val DIsere there are endless slopes to do and when dumps of snow come the Off-Piste is amazing. I truly love the resort.

The resorts is great for all levels of skiers/boarders. The resort is huge, so plenty of slopes to explore. I stayed in Tignes 1800, which is a small village. The place is lovely, with a small Spar nearby. However, if you are looking for a busier village, with more eating out options, this might not be the right one for you.

A big resort with great snow, good lifts and lots of lovely long red runs. Not so great for off piste but you can find that in connected resorts.

Great resort for a group of mixed abilities. Lots of runs and easy to get to Val Disere. Accommodation and places to eat were fab too, a lot to do off the slopes. We had a non skier, a 6 year old learner in ski school, 2 oldies and 3 thrill seekers... we all had an amazing holiday.

We went to Tignes as a group of 6 and had the best time! It was a perfect ski trip and had blue sky every day (lucky)! We really enjoyed the skiing and loved cocorico at the bottom of the slope for Apre Ski!! We also found a rave underneath a restaurant/hotel bar which was so good!Id go back to tignes again, 10/10
