What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Really really loved the resort! The layout of it is really nice with lots of lifts, shops and restaurants all in close proximity. Good apres options with ranging opening times so the option was nice and some gorgeous chalet accommodation options too!

So much to do and see. You will ride all day and not cover the same runs twice. We stayed in Le lac and in Val and rode to our front door. Go to resort for me.

We had a wonderful family holiday in Tignes, great variety of runs for all abilities, really good lifts and lots of life! Friendly locals - especially when youngest son cracked a thumb - local pharmacy and med centre looked after him very well.

My favourite resort - your lift pass covers the entire Espace Killey which is Val D'Isere and Tignes, and you can ski endlessly without repeating lots of runs (the app is really useful for the interactive map). There's great apres on and off the mountain, and the accomodation is largely right next to the lifts which means no excuse for not making first lifts. Loads of variety of runs, and lots of long ones - the glacier in Tignes is absolutely beautiful and not to be missed. Despite it being a popular resort because base level is 2100m so it's snow sure, the lift queues are super quick and faster than in some smaller resorts. Can't recommend more highly!

Tignes is a all singing, all dancing resort which can tick many boxes for visitors. With a vast and varied ski area, a lively apres ski and a dependable efficiency it offers a great all round experience. Most suited to intermediate/ advanced but with great transport options to ensure all levels can visit the area, it doesn't leave anybody out.

Reliably good conditions high in the glacier. Amazing variety of terrain, on and off piste. Huge area connected to Val DIsere so selection of mountain restaurants and aprés limitless for a holiday. Evolution ski do an excellent adventure course off piste for teenagers which is much more fun than ski school or skiing with parents! Recommend ++ worth the extra time transfer from airports

I love Tignes as a resort, plenty of runs to work with. Different towns to explore and skiing over to Val disere. Lots of lovely mountain restaurants. Plenty going on in resort. Good high skiing with beautiful views. Enough for beginners too altho top runs can get pretty busy.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first ski trip in Tignes, as a beginner Id have appreciated more green runs, but the blue options were great. Lots of ski school options and hotels and restaurants near to the main lifts

Great week of skiing, stayed in a chalet with a big bunch of friends in early March. Loads of snow due to the height but lovely weather most days. Quiet pistes and minimal queues for the lifts. Food and drink wasnt cheap but it wasnt as crazy expensive as some other resorts. Would go back in a flash.

Tignes is a stunning place and the skiing is great.Skiing around tignes everything is well marked which is always nice to make sure my friends and myself are on the right track for our abilities, however, i will say it was super busy even when not in school holidays, there are plenty of slopes but it does mean some of the slopes that might be good for beginners or people wanting to take it easy can get super busy at times. All in all its a good resort for skiing.
