What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

I went with my university trip early in the season and had so much fun! The snow was great with some brilliant runs, a few were shut but there's still 100s of km of slopes left. Apres was brilliant too, so all around great trip

Enjoyed our holiday in Tignes but the snow was a bit ropey. If you want better conditions, Val Thorens is a better choice.

I am a UK skier who has regularly visited Tignes sometime between January to March in the last 6 years. My ski group are attracted to the resort for its high-altitude snow reliability, extensive ski area, and easy access/link to the Val d'Isère resort. Our group is mostly intermediate in level, and we have enioyed the extensive range of blue and red runs, even tackling the black slopes such as La Face de Bellevarde for that personal sense of achievement and exhilaration. A highlight that never ceases to impress is travelling all the way up to the Grande Motte Glacier (weather permitting) to ski the quieter and motorway-wide, groomed slopes with an amazing view. Beginners will appreciate the well-designed nursery slopes in Tignes Le Lac and Val Claret, although we have found that true beginners find even the 'easier' slopes difficult at times at this resort. The resort boasts modern lift infrastructure, meaning fewer queues and more time on the slopes. Tignes is also more affordable than Val d'Isère, offering better value for UK skiers without compromising on quality. The apres ski options at Cocorico and La Folie Douce always bring the right energy and party vibes. The food options are also plentiful and delicious, although you may want to consider taking the odd packed lunch to avoid overindulgence and a hefty post trip bill! Overall an excellent Alpine resort that keeps us coming back season after season.

Tignes is one of the best ski resorts in Europe. It has a huge variety and volume of pistes that can easily keep you occupied for a week (or a season) and returning time and time again. There are loads of nightlife options and places to eat as well as non-snow activities.

Had a great stay at Tignes Le Lac, accommodation was excellent ski in/out and we very much enjoyed our evenings in The Marmot Arms. The snow and skiing was excellent with all the slopes well managed by resort staff.

Brilliant snow, and possible to ski on the glacier even in the summer months. Mostly well protected on bad weather days as most the resort is within a sort of bowl shape. Bonus as its skiable into val disere for great going out and apres

Love tignes, you can ski the full val disere area as well which has way better tree runs & a folie! Tignes has a cocos which is by far my favourite apres. You can ski all day and then apres here is open until 8pm! Great selection of files for the evening as well, Loop in le lac or rangas in val claret are my personal faves. Le strike is like a super club of the aloes, its really good if they can fill it up! Accommodation can reslly vary like most ski resorts youve got your standard small places & some really nice ones! Because tignes is high up & had a glacier its really reliable for snow all season. Some lovely off piste routes here, cant remember exactly what it was called but you can visit the needle rock and take a picture sitting inside of it. The theyve got lots of beginner routes as well as some harder ones for the more experienced & some snow parks too for free styles

It's one of my favourite seasons. It has fast ski lifts, a good tread on the slopes, it has many possibilities for freeride. It's a very complete ski resort.

We recently stayed in Les Brévières over Christmas. Les B is a quieter village with 3 great restaurants and a couple of bars, but no lively apres. Tignes itself is a fabulous resort with slightly trickier runs but well groomed and maintained. The Glacier and Grande Motte are the icing on the cake. What a run that is. Two in our party enjoyed some great off piste but we were disappointed with the snowboarding ski school for our two new learners. One didnt progress as fast as the group so was told to leave and book private lessons.Top holiday abs looking forward to visiting in the summer.

We visited tignes with 6 friends and had a splendid time over New Years. The resort is beautiful and ski to door access makes it incredible to get to and from accomodation. Having Val DIsere next door meant we were never short on runs, there were so many options and we were spoiled with great amounts of snow. The chairlifts are fast and queues are small. The terrain park was great even though they had not opened the bigger jumps yet, the medium range jumps were still good for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Restaurants were great and we could shop at nearby supermarkets if we wanted to save money. Loop bar is great for happy hour so would recommend going to get some cheap jugs of beer after a long hard day on the mountain!

I came to Tignes on a uni ski trip and it was great fun! It was my first time visiting Tignes after snowboarding at other resorts in France and it quickly became one of my faviroutes. I found it to be really versatile in the sense that it had a bit of everything which was great especially for someone like me who quickly gets bored of sticking to the same style after a couple of runs. Tignes had some beautiful paronamic views which could be enjoyed at view points, restaurants, on piste, and at some great après ski bars which I used to their full potential! I havent been back to Tignes since however it hasnt seen the last of me yet!

Just come back from my second skiing holiday, first time in Tignes. We stayed in 1800 which was lower down the mountain but we were able to ski to the bubble to take us up. We had the best time and its a huge resort so lots of different runs to explore. We were also able to ski over to Val Desere. Highly recommend and would definitely go back. For apres highly recommend cocorico! Even had my parents dancing.
