What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Well groomed slops. With potencial off pist snow allowing off many runs.
Lots options for eating drinking & live music
DIsere and back for all but the fitest. Good nightlife at Le Lac and Val Claret but resort can be noisy until well into the early hours. So if you want to get uninterrupted sleep heard for the lower villages. Lifts are largely quick and pistes better maintained than neighbouring Les Arcs. Vast terrain for the better skiers and easy to navigate. Should be on everyones bucket list. A good Folie Douce adds to the appeal.
Accommodation can be tiny, dated and overpriced.
Increasing options of nicer places to stay.
Plenty of bars and restaurants.
Avoid peak weeks to miss queues.
Huge ski area with loads of space.
Great choice off places to eat both on and off the slopes.
For my week the snow was amazing with powder everywhere! By the end of the week I was a broken man skiing every minute that I could. The slopes were amazing and lift efficiently was great. There were some busy times where we had to queue but not for long.
We stayed at Le Lavachet just down from Tignes Le Lac. This is a nice small resort and walking distance to the bigger resort of Le Lac. Highly recommend!
Lifts are old and slow and not a cover in sight when weather really bad.
Saying that had an excellent week there in January not a cloud in the sky and max -13 which is great for that time of year!
