What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Lovely resort
Helpful start
Great apres (cocos or folie)
Easy access to Val D’isere
Great plethora of runs for different levels
Can get busy in French half term though
Great apres at Follie and even better apres at CocoRicos. An abundance of restaurants and bar exist too with good happy hour deals.
If you're looking for snowboarding lessons, hit up Joey at evolution 2. Honestly the best teacher you could ask for. He really helped me push myself and elevate my riding.
The resort itself offers a huge variety of ski runs for all abilities and from past experience, some of the best and most varied off-piste potential. Some of our favourite runs were the Glacier Grande Motte red run into Val Claret (and the blue 'Genepy' run for a more mellow experience), from the Aiguille Percee all the way down to Le Brevieres, and over in Val D'Isere we enjoyed off-piste sections near the Glacier Du Pisaillas, just off the Cascade chair lift and of course, the Le Face De Bellevarde black run into the village.
Aside from the obvious, the resort also offers many other activities from sledging and snowmobiling, to indoor sports and even ice diving in Le Lac.
As for Apres, there's plenty for all ages. Id recommend Kodo in Tignes - a pan Asian restaurant which is delicious! For lunch, check out Le Garage in Val D'Isere and La Rosee Blanche in La Daille.
Try to split your ski's with others when leaving them outside, especially at Apres. This reduces the risk of them being taken which unfortunately dies happen quite often.
