What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Tignes is my all time favourite resort. It has become a bit more pricey in recent years but there are still some good deals to be had a great snow later in the season.

Tignes is great for off-piste and snowboarding in between the different small resort areas. Lots of great bars and good food, from small kiosk style Asian food to good old proper French alpine restaurants. Lots of good aprés to enjoy. Plenty of snow guaranteed due to its higher altitude. The snow parks are good fun also, with a Big Air inflatable!

Great resort for all abilities. Everything is close by. High up so lots of snow. Eating out is expensive though. Ski school has some great instructors. We went with a group of 7, mostly children and we all really enjoyed it

Outstanding resort. Snow sure up until early May, although end of season morning is better than afternoon. As an early intermediate, you can cover the whole region on blues and greens.
Ski schools are amazing and always know the best place to go. Love that they have beginner snow parks - meaning you can have fun as a good beginner. Also builds confidence.
Best ski in - ski out in the alps. Amazing walks if you fancy a day off - walking the lake from val claret to le lac is spectacular.
Thoroughly worth a visit to Tignes.

We went early season and we stayed in an all inclusive hotel on the slopes at val claret.
We chose tignes because it has slopes at high altitude to give a better chance of snow.
The hotel didn’t disappoint well placed next to the bollin lift the resort didn’t disappoint, the skiing caters for all abilities with a varied choice of uplift on the mountain. And good connection to val disere. This choice is mirrored in resort for apres or family oriented dining. I will return to this resort and would recommend

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tignes, Le Lac. The wider tignes-val d'isere skiing area is fantastic and offers something for all. The places to get on-piste refreshments are very well equipped and placed throughout the area, with some great apres locations.

Really fun and friendly resort, super fun nightlife which is perfect for a young group . Very accessible ski routes, and can easily access other resorts such as Val Thorens for some different scenery and slopes.

I have been going to Tignes since I was 4 years old and I absolutely love it. There is a very large variety of slopes, from the chill slope to start the trip with to get into the groove, to the black (Face de Bellevarde) and the mogul fields at des Col des Ves. With modern lifts you are on the slopes very fast. You can also ski on val d’Isère. There is a large choice of après (my favourite is cocorico). I do admit that the station has become more premium than in the past, and prices are kinda similar to val d’Isère. But overall, 100% recommend it.

We love Tignes- especially Val Claret- my husband is a disabled skier, so being able to ski to and from the door of so many different appartment blocks is amazing. Good night life for families- but limited for those intent on really hard night clubbing. Christmas is very magical.
Espace Killy lift pass gives you access to Val d’Isere as well. Can’t beat it!

Tignes is a great ski resort, there is a great variety of runs of varying difficulty and well maintained. It’s a lively atmosphere, with good apres ski - I found this to be best in February. My family did lessons and quickly picked it up. Food options are good, although pricey, the same for drink, however you are in the mountains, as it’s seasonal, it’s to be expected. Would definitely recommend.

Tignes is an incredible resort for both skiing and for the apres. The easy access to val d’Isere and to Tignes 1800 and Brev give you endless options when it comes to skiing. There’s also a good range of different slopes for all types of abilities. I really loved the apres scene in cocos, loop and folie douce.
