A dependable option regardless of weather. Upper slopes are great in the good weather and the glacier is always there if the snow fails to appear. In whiteout conditions the tree line above Le Dai is a fantastic option. Definitely something for everyone. Happy Valley is an option if you have a competent guide/ friend with you.
Also only 1 or 2 lifts away from Val if you fancy a change and trying out the Up and Over then down to Le Fornet.

I went during holiday season so very busy time and wasn’t much snow during that, BUT you can get the area pass to have access to all of tignes and Val d isere and there’s tons of runs and great variety. Amazing apres and even better nightlife , very social and good places to eat!

Amazing resort with access to many slopes for all levels. The best part has to be the Folie Douche for apres ski.

Great skiing always guaranteed at Tignes. Large area linked with Val D.
No need to ski the same runs as plenty of options and different difficulties.
Plenty of choices for apres from quieter bars to more full on parties!
Been to Tignes 5 times and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Tignes and Val d’Isere are the two ski resorts which make up the Espace Killy, which is without a doubt one of the most impressive ski areas I have ever visited in any part of the world.

I was so charmed by the small town of Les Brevieres when I first visited 20-odd years ago, that I decided to live and work there for a year.

The sheer size of Espace Killy means you will never be bored. That coupled with the diversity of skiable pistes, off-piste and back country, snowparks, etc. guarantees there is something for everyone.

Deciding which resort to stay in depends on what you’re looking for in a ski holiday. If you’re going to ski, stay in Tignes; the quality of the snow tends to be preferable compared to Val d’Isere, which leans too icy in the morning and very slushy in the afternoon.

Both resorts have wonderful options for luxury chalets, eating out, and après ski. There’s not a huge difference in price between the two, but Val d’Isere tends to attract a more affluent type of holiday maker, so you might find some things slightly pricier there.

Val d’Isere is certainly more “polished” than Tignes, but you’ll find more people looking for quality skiing and a good laugh in Tignes than you will in Val.

As always, Tignes delivered. I spend most of my time on the high green runs (Borsat/Genepy/Grand Pré) and I wouldn't have it any other way. Restaurants always hit the spot, pistes generally well groomed, and staff always friendly and helpful. I'll of course be back next year

Excellent for all levels of skiers, good price and lots of different slope capabilities. Also a short ski or bus journey into Val’D which is much pricier.

There was 13 of us in our group all of different ski levels and we all had the best time.
The ski in, ski out option was a game changer for us.

Tignes is one of those resorts that really grows on you the longer you’re there. The snow reliability is a huge plus, and the skiing/snowboarding itself is brilliant confidence-boosting pistes mixed with plenty of options to push yourself if you want something steeper. Being close to Val d’Isère gives you load of terrain, so it never feels the same anywhere. (The funival is a experience in its self!)
The resort is practical and built for everyone, which we actually appreciated. Everything is close, getting onto the slopes in the morning is hassle-free, a free shuttle that runs round the resort, so even if your a little out of town you hop on one and within a couple of minutes your there. there’s a good balance of bars, decent food, and places to unwind after a long day on the mountain.
Overall id say its a great choice if reliable conditions, loads of variety, that makes it easy to just enjoy the mountains. We went as a family first time I'd been, but I thought it was ideal for first timers

Good range of slopes, the mountains and scenery are truly beautiful, and it’s a good location. The town is nice with lots of ski in ski out options, and the spa is good.

Great accommodation options at varying levels.

Good bunny slopes for practice. Not massively snowboard friendly.

Easily accessible to other mountains such as Val D’isair

I absolutely loved this resort! It’s amazing how your lift pass can span over to val disere too, so you get endless amounts of skiing room. Sometimes I find I can exhaust a resort and know all the ski paths, but here it’s endless and all in the pass. And cocoricos is the best apres ever!

My first time skiing this December in Tignes 2100 and wow I am hooked. There was plenty of runs and ski lifts to access. The food and drink options were amazing and I will definitely be back!

Very icy and the henri was very busy. Good atmosphere. Good apres. Nice green runs at the top. Bollin lift was stop start

Was a ton of fun. Unfortunately it got pretty snow the last few days and most lifts weren’t running but it was still a great week!

Very big with lots of slope options - we went for 4 days skiing and didn’t manage to cover it all. Some of the ski lifts weren’t on sometimes which was a bit annoying. Plenty of good speed options.

tignes is an amazing resort! has been slightly icy before the big dump but the runs are all groomed well. of course some of the runs lower down into the resort get a bit mogully by the end of the day as people come back down but overall the runs are great. tignes le lac is a lovely town with lots of restaurants and great bars. overall i love tignes, i come back every year!

Beautiful open pistes that mean more sunlight and less cooler, shadey slopes, particularly later in the season when there's still snow and longer ski days. Lots to do and very accessible.
