What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Tignes is a great resort with a lot of runs available. However -20degrees made the runs very icy. It was pretty busy when I went.

There is such a variety of ski runs - all very well connected. This was brilliant for our group as we had mixed abilities. The apres was great and lots of food options in the evening in the resort. A really friendly atmosphere- loved every minute of the holiday.

Tignes lived up to the expectations and more from great Apres to good food and entertainment. The snowboarding options were next level and the loft system so efficient that you could cover miles on end of one wished too. Accommodation can basically to really comfortable with host options available to those who wish. Transport to and from resort is not an issue if you have pre arranged it but may struggle if you are a single traveller and can be expensive. All in all a great resort suited to families beginners and advanced riders. Tignes has an incredible snow park which was epic to ride.

Tignes is a great resort with huge runs and huge ski area, very wide open runs also. Good options for Apres however depending on your accommodation you need to get a short bus to and from, busses were reliable but is more fun when it’s ski in ski out. Can ski Val D’lsere and the Olympic park including “The Wall”. Would love to go back!

Wrap up warm for apres in Tignes itself - you’ll lose the sun around 4:30 and queues get long as soon as lifts close so you can be in for a 30-40 min wait in the growing dark if you’re heading to cocos. Once you’re in, it’s busy, but for good reason. Drinks are spenny but not extortionate, the music is good and there’s decent space. In terms of accommodation, even close to the lifts there are good affordable options. You can expect fast moving queues at the bottom, but crowds quickly disperse as skiers travel over to Val and the various ski areas in Tignes. Once you’re above the first lifts, the slopes are populated but well managed. Decent restaurant options in town, ski schools are central with good cafés close by and the town is very walkable.

Pistes we're fairly empty, some routes back to resorts become very lumpy at the end of the day.

A fabulous location for a weeks skiing. Would have benefitted from some more snow to make it less icy, but we still had a great time on green/blue slopes. The kids enjoyed the black runs! The apres ski and food was brilliant!

Great skiing in a high, reliable and large area. Great for self catering. Food and drinks expensive out. Given that, the skiing itself is excellent!

Overall Tignes and val d’isere are a really good option for intermediate and advanced skier. The spares scene is great although the bars and restaurants in Tignes aren’t the best but still good if you have a crowd. Snow when I visited was great with fresh powder every day

Really great resort, everythung was super accessible and our accomodion was ski in ski out. Other resorts such as Val Claret and La Folie Douce in Val D’Isere was easily accessible as well through blue and red runs which was good. There were plenty of food and drink options which was lovely and was good for budgeting. Overall great experience !

Went for a week with university ski friends. Tignes is great for ski in ski out and a wide ski area into val d’isere. The village has everything you need in it and public transport if you want to go down to Le Lac or to Bourg. Would really recommend Tignes as a resort.

First (proper) time to Tignes Val Claret - and thoroughly enjoyed! We loved the range and extent of pistes and the convenience of everything being close to hand in the town. Snow sureness (relatively.. was getting thin and worn by time we left!) is of most importance these days and Tignes height was a key reason for our choosing to holiday here. All in all a great and popular resort.

Tignes is in my opinion, hands down one of the best ski resorts. You've got access to a great ski area, combined with Val d'isere and further afield. Fantastic options for accommodation, nightlife and there really is something for all ages. What it lacks in beauty it makes up for tenfold in other areas, and its snow sure!!

Amazing resort. Stayed in Les Breviers. There are good connections via bus/gondolas.

The food was mostly average at an average price. I was mostly on blue and green slopes but our instructor also showed us some canyons off-piste. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit.
