What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Massive snow storms when we were there which allowed for phenomenal skiing for 3 days. Been here multiple times.....just cannot beat it!
Really impressed not to see too much dog poo on the streets too!
We will be back. Tigne we love you.
Lots of stuff to do on and off the slopes
Food was amazing and worth the price
Loads of affordable options
Lots of great teachers in the area
Price is always and issue with resorts but not the worst I’ve seen
And of course the great slopes and access to all slopes and areas
Plus very clean
With the early quietness comes a more quiet evening / apres feel however cocorico in Val claret was still very popular.
Overall early skiing in tignes for the ‘ski purest’ caring more about cramming as much skiing as they can I can’t recommend enough.
Another thing good to know is it’s not overly important what village you stay in if you aren’t out late at night as the inter town free bus service is very regular up to about 11pm
