What Skiers Say About Tignes
Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Best skiing best facilities! The only down side of Tignes is it’s so far away from any airport but it’s a small price to pay for such a wicked location to ski
Abundant snow even late in season. A firm fave with our family of skiers of all abilities
However wherever you choose there are free shuttles that run every hour til late.
I always prefer to stay fairly higher up in resorts, always more snow surrounding you that way.
Great off piste options for those that are into it, remember to be safe an take a guide and have the correct equipment!
Tignes has lots of shops, bars and restaurants so you are never to far from what you may need, accommodation wise there are chalets, hotels, chalet hotels and serviced apartments. There’s also even a hostel in Val claret for more affordable option!
