What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Great resort. Huge amount of runs and ease of getting to Val Disere is great. Many runs are very busy especially those leading to the town at the end of the day, leaving them icy. Great place for apres and bus service makes it very accessible wherever you're staying.

I went with my friend for a week holiday, she was a beginner and I was advanced. The slopes allowed us to ski together going down different coloured runs but ending up in the same place. By the end I was able to get her down a small black run which she had met me at the bottom of all week. It’s very easy to go from Foli Douce in VD down to tignes to continue the apres with a live band down in CoCo’s. An absolutely fabulous resort with a lot of runs for all abilities!

Caters for all types of skiers and boarders, loads of runs, loads of off piste to explore. 1 week doesn't feel like enough time to cover the ground available. Great apres options and well connected to Val D'Isere, Tignes Les Breviere and Val Claret. Results in being more expensive that other resorts.

Wow - what a resort. Everything you could need from beginner to expert. Well groomed pistes and plenty of marked trails when the snow level allows. Glacier all year guaranteed skiing gives another option. Easy access to neighbouring areas and the full lift pass - albeit costly - covers a vast area you cannot get bored by! So much to do / places to go. Plenty of hire shops, restaurants and bars - again probably more expensive than some but it's up a mountain with a captive audience and realistically no more expensive than London. Will absolutely be returning!

We enjoyed a few days skiing in tignes. Lots of intermediate runs for us. A little tip. Don’t ski down the forest trail when it’s getting dark. It gets dark fast and the trail is icy and not wide.

I had an amazing time in tignes - the slopes were easy to access and well looked after and there was a great ski area. Only downside was that once you were down in val d’isere it’s not super convenient to get back. But there was plenty of piste to keep us entertained during the week and tignes the town was great. Lots to do and easy to get around. Highlights were Cocos and playing music bingo at one of the local pubs!

Great big resort, lots of areas to explore, means you don’t end up doing the same runs all the time! Hardly quad for lifts.

Bollin is the best apres bar! - Skip folie overpriced and a bit too serious!

Tignes is the most wonderful resort to visit, it has everything you need for an incredible ski holiday! Would 100% recommend for any ski/board experience but also those who don’t as some restaurants are accessible via lift to meet skiers on piste!

Great family friendly resort, good options of towns to choose from to stay, some cheaper than others too. Great restaurants within le lac and val claret too! Lifts that take you up both sides of the valley always open! Very good snow conditions throughout the season, also easy connections to val disere

Had a great time in Tignes, I have visited numerous times however in the last few years it has declined in popularity. The apres at coco is insane and definitely one not to miss, if you travel as part of a large group like uni or TTS then without a doubt you’ll have a great time. I’ve visited with work, family and friends all separate and never fail to have a great time. Last season was a little icy, but if you’re happy to do your own cooking I’d advise grabbing supplies further down the mountain as the shops can be a little pricey. Restaurants there are a few and bars are more a chilled vibe. Club wise.. yeh I wouldn’t bother clubbing. The skiing is great some nice long runs, snowboarders there’s a variety there too. They also have the downhill run in Le lac.

Always love visiting Tignes, massive ski zone, different areas to visit. Wish there were more different eating place options it can be busy and have to book early to get a good place. The skiing and the lifts are great, can get very busy at pinch points
