What Skiers Say About Morzine
Morzine attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with families and groups of friends commonly mentioned. Reviewers consistently highlight the resort's location within the Portes du Soleil area, offering easy access to Avoriaz, Les Gets, and a large variety of terrain. The town itself is praised for being a real Alpine town with numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, and the free shuttle bus service is frequently noted as efficient. Snow conditions receive mixed feedback, with lower altitude slopes sometimes suffering from lack of snow or becoming slushy, though higher areas like Avoriaz are noted as more snow-sure. Cons: busy all year round with lots of riders that don’t really understand etiquette on the mountain (ie cutting people off, skiing out of control). Also the resort is lower down so snow levels and quality tend to be unpredictable.
Beginner friendly. Busier in afternoons but quieter in the mornings.
However, as part of the Portes du Soleil, there are a number of resorts you can get to on the area pass so well worth it
We didn’t ski much in Morzine as the snow cover wasn’t great, but the ski lift took you straight into avoiraz area, which has incredible skiing, from there all port du solei had really good pistes. We had snow a few days into the trip which just made the skiing even better.
When the snow is good in Morzine, there are plenty of reds and blues for mixed abilities, plus loads of lovely tree runs. Avoriaz opens things up even more — you can ski over the Swiss border, take on the famous Swiss Wall if you’re up for it, and there’s a huge snow park too. The après at La Folie Douce is always fun, and it’s one of the few resorts where getting beginners to Apres is doable.
We absolutely LOVED our time in the town. We skied a lot, we also watched Morzine play in an at home ice hockey game and they won which was brilliant.
Lovely restaurants, music, atmosphere and lots to do other than just snow sports.
Would love to go back in summer as heard great things and is a beautiful area.
Ski pass is great as allows you on a crazy amount of runs, overall brilliant place. Highly recommend
