Méribel Review Summary
Méribel attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, many travelling in mixed-ability groups or families. The resort is consistently praised for its central location in the Three Valleys, offering efficient access to Courchevel and Val Thorens via well-maintained lift infrastructure. Reviewers repeatedly mention the extensive ski area, good piste grooming, and lively après-ski scene, particularly at Rond Point and La Folie Douce. However, the high cost of accommodation, food, and drinks is a frequent complaint, with many noting that Méribel is significantly more expensive than resorts in Austria or Italy. Lift queues can be an issue during peak periods, particularly on lower lifts, though most report they move relatively quickly. A few snowboarders mention flat connecting runs as problematic.

I have experienced many eateries and apres bars here and in VT and Courchevel and the size of this resort is great cause it means everyone doesn’t end up in the same places.
10/10 would recommend but obvs because it’s so good, it’s also on the more expensive side. (Naturally)
Skiing is great
The great variation in terrain over such a large area means there’s always somewhere to ski no matter the weather. Tree runs for white out days, wide, gentle pistes for learners, steep technical pistes for more advanced skiers.
Being a part of the biggest ski area in the world also has other perks. Almost all lifts appear to have been built in the last 10/15 years so wont smack you in the back of the legs. There is also not many button lifts to the delight of snowboarders. They also have a large amount of snow cannons so despite having no snow for 6 weeks in January, most runs were still open even down to 1400m.
On thing they could improve one would be the bus service. It never seemed to run to its timetable and line C would only be every ~30 minutes. This unreliability lead me to just start walking 15 minutes to the piste in all my gear. Another complaint would be the price drinks. Pints at apres bars/ on the mountain were often €12 which seemed steep compared to other resorts like Tignes where I was paying €8 last year.
Overall its a brilliant resort for everyone.
Apres not as busy or lively as other resorts, but a good few options.
Lifts are fast and facilities for kids great.
Spoiled for choice with a range of restaurants and apres ski for all budget and tastes.
Also the best resort when travelling with a dog.
Great walks near altiport and beautiful Lake Tueda.
Not enough powder or good off poster unless you go ski touring.
But worth the trip 100%
Access to the Three Valleys means you can ski new runs each day and never get bored!
The shops, food and town are amazing and so close together!
Can’t wait for my next visit!
