What Skiers Say About Méribel
Méribel attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, many travelling in mixed-ability groups or families. The resort is consistently praised for its central location in the Three Valleys, offering efficient access to Courchevel and Val Thorens via well-maintained lift infrastructure. Reviewers repeatedly mention the extensive ski area, good piste grooming, and lively après-ski scene, particularly at Rond Point and La Folie Douce. However, the high cost of accommodation, food, and drinks is a frequent complaint, with many noting that Méribel is significantly more expensive than resorts in Austria or Italy. Lift queues can be an issue during peak periods, particularly on lower lifts, though most report they move relatively quickly. A few snowboarders mention flat connecting runs as problematic.

Maribel is best valley to stay in Les 3 vallees. It's the middle one so it's easy to go courchavel or val thorens. When you stay Maribel changing vallays is possible with one or two lifts.
Slopes are great in 3 valleys and if there is different skill level skiers in group, usually you can ski different level pistes down to the same lift.
For food on the slopes there is something for every budget.
We have been many times in meribel but last year (Jan 2025) was first time when it was too crowded for us.
Will deffo be booking our net ski trip soon, and hopefully push myself a little further with some better slopes, Blue and green runs were my main focus and the chair lift was fun.. hahaha.
Overall had the BEST TIME!!!
Ski area is massive, and one valley over is a wonderful bowl which you can just ski all day long. Also appreciate theres some really far distances you can ski to, which makes a nice day trip down some steep blacks - great for an adventure!
Good apres, without being stupid - not a massive fan of massive drinking towns, but I think meribel has a great balance without being like a magaluf strip at night.
Can't wait to go back.
Loved it.
Skiing offers a good range of runs for all abilities, and if off-piste interests you, then you will be able to find routes and little runs just off the pistes too. Also easy to access other resorts nearby if you wanted
The apres ski is great and lots of wonderful food places too
The size of the ski area was a particular bonus for us in that we had a group of mixed ability and it allowed us to split off at times and meet up for lunch easily.
I would definitely recommend for groups or families.
Lifts all in good condition and efficient. Some large ques were present for the main lifts on the piste, altho this was fairly well managed and never more than 5-10 minute wait.
Slopes were busy especially on blue runs.
Very expensive for Apres Ski! Despite the size or the 3 valleys food options were limited. Public transpoort between the resorts was great an easy enough to navigate.
My friend was boarding and he was struggling around the resorts due to most of the runs into the resorts being very flat green runs and very busy making it hard for him to keep any speed and get to the resort.
Such a big ski area made it easy to find decent snow..Grear mountain restaurants helped resuscitate aching legs at lunchtime and no shortage of apres bars in Meribel at the end of the day!
The sheer scope of lift engineering is something to behold is a genuine reason akin with the piste bashers to the price of the ski pass…well worth in my opinion!
Our chalet accommodation was good value, nothing flashy but very comfortable with good cooking
All in all we had a fantastic 8 days!
