What Skiers Say About Méribel

Méribel attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, many travelling in mixed-ability groups or families. The resort is consistently praised for its central location in the Three Valleys, offering efficient access to Courchevel and Val Thorens via well-maintained lift infrastructure. Reviewers repeatedly mention the extensive ski area, good piste grooming, and lively après-ski scene, particularly at Rond Point and La Folie Douce. However, the high cost of accommodation, food, and drinks is a frequent complaint, with many noting that Méribel is significantly more expensive than resorts in Austria or Italy. Lift queues can be an issue during peak periods, particularly on lower lifts, though most report they move relatively quickly. A few snowboarders mention flat connecting runs as problematic.

Great Apres and social. Lots of great catered chalets. Lots of slope choice and can ski to the other 2 valleys for more if desired. Great pubs and restaurants mid mountain for lunch and drinks. We love meribel!

We love Méribel and have been skiing here for nearly 20 years. The social is the best and you have some good shops to get food from if you choose. The mountain is busy but getting on the ski lift isn't as bad as Verbier for example. Ski hire is around £110 and ski pass is around £260.

Really loved our 3 days skiing at Meribel/Courchevel/Val Thorens! So many runs and areas to ski, and great coverage. We felt like you couldn’t possibly do it all in a few days! We had a group of mixed abilities, and we were definitely able to find runs suitable for everyone in the group, from beginner to advanced.
The Apres was great at both La Folie Douce, but we did prefer the Meribel/Courchevel one.
On the Sunday, the mountains were a lot busier, and the queue management at some of the lower lifts wasn’t great, but we were still able to find plenty of relatively empty runs!

We had a great time here!! Lots of varied runs which was perfect for a mixed range ability family! There were some white-out days where less confident skiers didn’t go up the mountain but for those who did, the interactive 3 Valleys app was so useful and there was no fear of getting lost. Food around the town was delicious however most restaurants did the same food and were expensive. Would go back again and again!!

Quiet slopes in early January with lots of great blues and reds for intermediate skiers across the Three Valleys.

Quick times on the lifts.

Lots of food and drink options but not the cheapest on the mountain or in the resorts.

Big powder blue skies. Pints below €7 can be found. Bus service is exceptional. Lifts are great with queues at those on the bottom. Top of mountain could be very quiet even on blue sky days.

We loved staying in Méribel - easy access to the 3 valleys with loads of runs, could easily have stayed longer than a week and still be finding new slopes to ski. Jack’s is a great restaurant in Meribel centre. We had a very mixed group of abilities and it suited us all. Can be quite busy but lots of lifts that easily take you to quieter areas. Would definitely go again!

Such a great resort with easy access to the whole of 3 valleys. So many runs for all levels and wonderful food and apres ski. Not the prettiest resort and certainly not the cheapest, but for lovers of Alpine Skiing it ticks all the boxes.

Loved the slopes- good options for intermediate level. Bit of a throw in at the deep end for not experienced skiers.

Even off skis you can access lifts to apres!

This ski trip was perfect for us a family. Easy connections with free shuttles down to Meribel Chaudanne. Lovely green runs and some nice blues for beginners. Rhodos is the perfect mountain for this with access to lunch and drink areas. Easy to use ski lifts with friendly staff. Resort offers a mini pass just to be able to access the smaller sloped areas. On a night the town is busy with activities and pubs, bars etc.

I have been a few ski trips to meribel and this year was better than ever.

What stood out to me was the lifts and efficiency to get around the three valleys. I loved the Ronnie and La folie douce however they are slightly expensive. The runs were well groomed even though we didn’t have the best snow. The staff were super helpful as we accidentally bought the wrong pass and they helped us clarify to get the right pass.

Overall an amazing trip but areas to improve is definitely the price

Did a season in Meribel. Amazing place for families and young skiers. Apres scene is unmatched and the vast ski area connected to meribel is incredible. If you’re looking for quieter slopes Courchevel 1650 is for you. Busier in Meribel and towards VT. If you love a long, wide blue run, Jerusalem down to Saint Martin is for you!! Great resort. Did a 6 month season there in 2022! Since I’ve been back it has definitely turned more into a quiet family friendly resort. A lot more tame and family friendly & pretty than val thorns. Also a great spot to make the most out of the three valleys skiing. Access to courch and vt very easily. Overall a beautiful resort with things going on, I would say more for families or less party groups.
