What Skiers Say About Les Arcs

Les Arcs attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with intermediate skiers being particularly well-served. Reviewers consistently mention the vast ski area, especially when linked with La Plagne via the Paradiski pass, offering extensive terrain that prevents boredom over a week. The lift system is generally praised for efficiency and minimal queuing, though some mention increased crowds in recent years due to new all-inclusive hotels. Après-ski receives positive feedback, particularly venues like Folie Douce and L'Arpette in Arc 1800. Several users note good value compared to other French resorts, convenient access via funicular from Bourg-St-Maurice, and reliable snow conditions due to altitude. Common criticisms include limited nightlife and restaurant options in some villages (particularly Arc 2000), crowded narrow sections on certain runs, and an abundance of flat connecting tracks that frustrate snowboarders.

We've stayed in two parts of Les Arcs in the past few years and have really enjoyed the whole resort.

In particular Arcs 1950 for it's pedestrian and ski friendly focus, height and excellent north facing runs back to the village was a treat for the whole family.

Plan Peisey is lower, but well served to visit La Plagne. The slopes can be softer to the resort in the afternoon later in the season it is still nice for a family to stay.

Excellent pistes, really well groomed. Efficient lift systems mean you can ski lots of different runs before you have to collect kids from ski school. Ski schools are great, instructors are friendly and children make good progress. We love skiing in Les Arcs, have skied here for 28 years and never get bored.

Les arcs is a great area for skiing. It is a very local ski area so it is mainly full of French people which is nice. The towns have a good selection of bars and restaurants to chose from. All in all a greatplace to go especially given the access to the full paradi ski area.

Large ski area, good conditions and decent lifts. I found the apres to be a bit repetitive with not that many options.

Huge area to ski if you take in the full Paradis ski area and get the Vanoise Express over to La Plagne. My favourite in France for an intermediate skier - me!

A nice big area to explore with easy connection through to la plane. Our trip was in March with no fresh snowfall, so cannot comment on the off piste. Despite warm weather and little fresh snow, the quality of snow remained good in the higher pistes, though slushy lower down. Pistes were well maintained and queues not too bad. Queues were a lot worse 1 week earlier the previous year (going mid March rather than late March).

Great high altitude resort with runs to suit all skiers. We particularly love the nature pistes. Friendly pisters, great lift system and resulting in minimal queuing for lifts. Great accommodation options especially at 1950 and 2000 plus lots of mountain restaurants with spectacular views.

Les Arcs is an excellent area to go on holiday skiing or snowboarding with many varied runs to suit all abilities. It is linked with La Plagne via a large two floor gondola with a glass floor in the centre across a valley. Lots of runs through trees with my favourite being La foret in Les Arcs.

Varied runs, best Aprés at 1800. Plenty for non-skiers. Nice restaurants in all sections plus down in Bourg St Maurice if you are prepared to take the funicular. Free shuttle buses between all 4 stations and much cheaper than La Plagne / 3 Valleys and Val d’Isère

Absolutely love Les Arcs and the Paradiski area. So much choice and love how the runs cut horizontally through so many of the vertical ones making it really easy to miss a top steep section and join runs a bit further down. So very good for mixed ability groups. Love going over to La Plagne as well for a day.
Lots of choice for food in Arcs 1800 and lower down. Less so up in 2000 where we stayed but straight onto the slopes with good hotels and some nice little bars. Would 100% come back.

Les Arcs is a massive and varied ski resort as the area is part of one of the world’s biggest linked ski resorts, however the local area is plenty for a week and not worth the extra fee to go over to La Plange. Arc 1800 features a great mix of slopes for beginners, intermediates and experts, including long cruising blues with tree runs for days with poor visibility. If you’re upto it Aguille Rouge is a challenging but exhilarating run with amazing views. The resorts also have a good mix of bars, restaurants and evening entertainment. All in all a great place to ski with lots going on.

Great resort, has something for everyone. The 2000 side is a little more family friendly but across the board the resort is ideal.

This was the first resort I ever skied at when I was a child. Went back again a few years ago as an adult. Very nice place. Good connectivity, nice runs, and comfortable for families. Very much up to the standard of French ski resorts.

It’s a very decent ski area overall. We stayed in Bourg St Maurice and used the funicular to access the slopes. This was a lot cheaper than staying in LA and we were well served for shops, bars etc.

Hadn't snowed for a month on arrival. Resort had done a good job of keeping the piste from being too icy. On day 6 of a 9 day trip there was a decent dump of snow for 3 days. Lifts are fast and not too busy. Reds and black runs relatively quiet. would normally need to get high up to get some sunshine in the mornings. Off piste & tree skiing were great once the fresh snow arrived. Would suggest staying in 1950 or 2000 as takes a little while from 1600 to access the resort. Overall a good resort if not as easy to get across resort as say Tignes or Val Thorens
