What Skiers Say About Les Arcs

Les Arcs attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with intermediate skiers being particularly well-served. Reviewers consistently mention the vast ski area, especially when linked with La Plagne via the Paradiski pass, offering extensive terrain that prevents boredom over a week. The lift system is generally praised for efficiency and minimal queuing, though some mention increased crowds in recent years due to new all-inclusive hotels. Après-ski receives positive feedback, particularly venues like Folie Douce and L'Arpette in Arc 1800. Several users note good value compared to other French resorts, convenient access via funicular from Bourg-St-Maurice, and reliable snow conditions due to altitude. Common criticisms include limited nightlife and restaurant options in some villages (particularly Arc 2000), crowded narrow sections on certain runs, and an abundance of flat connecting tracks that frustrate snowboarders.

My favourite ski resort.
Soon after arriving the funicular railway whisks you up to all the accommodation levels of the resort.
The ski-ing is amazing with the link to the La Plagne ski area and beyond.
An amazing centre for most age groups, but especially the adventurous types who also love to party afterwards.

2nd time going to les arcs stayed in 1600 village this time however found that there was not as much stuff to do compared to 1950/1800. As an intermediate skier the resort is great plenty of slopes however a few members of my party that where more advanced said they skied the whole are in first few days although you can use whole of Paradiski area to solve this

Great for the family and our group of mixed skiing levels. Eating out was great on the piste and in the evenings. We loved the seafood on the piste at Bulle café Arc 2000 and don’t miss a trip to La Folie Douce Arc 1800

Great apres ski and decent resort especially with lift pass access to La Plagne as well. Massive ski area and fairly cheap too with well located towns.

Huge resort, great infrastructure and amenities. A range of slopes for all levels of skiing. The main town is a little tired and could do with some TLC.

We visited during a week with very varied weather, and with a little sleuthing with webcams were able to usually find the best spots for the day. We had the full Paradiski pass and divided the area up into 1600/1800, both above and below treeline. 1950 and 2000, which sometimes were above the clouds and also across to Belle Plagne etc. The Paradiski Yuge app is great for avoiding bottlenecks in lift queues. If you see a busy Vanoise Express in the app, look at how busy the main lifts are on reach side of the valley. It may only be busy in one direction.
An expansive resort with lots of options and varied terrain. We found that we could build up some interesting circuits using a variety of lifts rather than straight up and down. Access by train or coach from Bourg was a doddle up the funicular, we stayed in 1800. Lots of variety, even with some really flat light.

Good all round resort offering a bit of everything. Connected to La Plagne but both times we skied into La Plagne it was a lot busier and we preferred Les Arcs.

Really nice and clean resort, went for abode festival, apres ski and other bars very good. Only downside was no members of staff being able to tell us where certain things were located which made part of the festival very unorganised

Great place for Christmas/new year week. Busy but due to size of resort didn’t feel overly busy. Lots of different areas to try each day.

We've stayed in two parts of Les Arcs in the past few years and have really enjoyed the whole resort.

In particular Arcs 1950 for it's pedestrian and ski friendly focus, height and excellent north facing runs back to the village was a treat for the whole family.

Plan Peisey is lower, but well served to visit La Plagne. The slopes can be softer to the resort in the afternoon later in the season it is still nice for a family to stay.

Excellent pistes, really well groomed. Efficient lift systems mean you can ski lots of different runs before you have to collect kids from ski school. Ski schools are great, instructors are friendly and children make good progress. We love skiing in Les Arcs, have skied here for 28 years and never get bored.

Les arcs is a great area for skiing. It is a very local ski area so it is mainly full of French people which is nice. The towns have a good selection of bars and restaurants to chose from. All in all a greatplace to go especially given the access to the full paradi ski area.

Large ski area, good conditions and decent lifts. I found the apres to be a bit repetitive with not that many options.

Huge area to ski if you take in the full Paradis ski area and get the Vanoise Express over to La Plagne. My favourite in France for an intermediate skier - me!

A nice big area to explore with easy connection through to la plane. Our trip was in March with no fresh snowfall, so cannot comment on the off piste. Despite warm weather and little fresh snow, the quality of snow remained good in the higher pistes, though slushy lower down. Pistes were well maintained and queues not too bad. Queues were a lot worse 1 week earlier the previous year (going mid March rather than late March).
