What Skiers Say About Les Arcs
Les Arcs attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with intermediate skiers being particularly well-served. Reviewers consistently mention the vast ski area, especially when linked with La Plagne via the Paradiski pass, offering extensive terrain that prevents boredom over a week. The lift system is generally praised for efficiency and minimal queuing, though some mention increased crowds in recent years due to new all-inclusive hotels. Après-ski receives positive feedback, particularly venues like Folie Douce and L'Arpette in Arc 1800. Several users note good value compared to other French resorts, convenient access via funicular from Bourg-St-Maurice, and reliable snow conditions due to altitude. Common criticisms include limited nightlife and restaurant options in some villages (particularly Arc 2000), crowded narrow sections on certain runs, and an abundance of flat connecting tracks that frustrate snowboarders.

For more complex runs, the Aguille Rouge offers an impressive challenge for those looking to end the day with no legs!
In terms of night life, La Folie Douce offers the classic apres ski experience, with an easy green run straight down into Les Arcs 1800 or a gondola. Within 1800 itself, there are several smaller bars where one can trial the local liquors in a warm and welcoming environment.
There was a range of restaurants for all price ranges, as well as takeaways for snatching a quick bite. For those wanting to try a fondue, I havent had better.
Cable car takes you to la plange which gives another entire resort to explore :)
Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, maximising time on the slopes. The modern resort villages making up Les Arcs are just about car free, easy to walk around and have amenities to suit most tastes.
Les Arcs may not have extensive night life, but it more than makes up with superb skiing areas, inspiring scenery and welcoming resort staff.
Runs were very good and slopes not too busy in January.
Lifts were busy, but moved at a reasonable pace.
Ski school was run well, catering to a wide range of levels.
Overall I would go back to this resort.
There is such a good range of runs, lifts, terrain to keep everyone happy. Possibly a bit short of mountain restaurants, but OK.
I picked up snowboarding on that very trip and I could do blue-red slopes with some tree runs. The instructors were a really good and the slopes are ideal for beginners to advance quickly, regardless of skill level. This is owed to the vast spaces on the slopes and the quality of the snow there.
The apres is great fun!
