What Skiers Say About Les Arcs

Les Arcs attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with intermediate skiers being particularly well-served. Reviewers consistently mention the vast ski area, especially when linked with La Plagne via the Paradiski pass, offering extensive terrain that prevents boredom over a week. The lift system is generally praised for efficiency and minimal queuing, though some mention increased crowds in recent years due to new all-inclusive hotels. Après-ski receives positive feedback, particularly venues like Folie Douce and L'Arpette in Arc 1800. Several users note good value compared to other French resorts, convenient access via funicular from Bourg-St-Maurice, and reliable snow conditions due to altitude. Common criticisms include limited nightlife and restaurant options in some villages (particularly Arc 2000), crowded narrow sections on certain runs, and an abundance of flat connecting tracks that frustrate snowboarders.

Recently went with a work trip, a total beginner never skied before and hence why some of the questions before this i couldnt answer as im still not to sure on what they all mean. But in terms of my first ski trip ever it was amazing, the instructors were awesome and very knowledgeable, and i managed to learn a fair bit in the 7 days i spent there. It was super fun, and i will deffo be returning next season

I have been skiing at Les Arcs for nearly a decade and love it every time. Has slopes for all stages, and excellent long runs to practice going fast or mogul work. Great refurbs on ski lifts and cable cars make the overall experience a lot better too.

I really enjoyed our stay at Les Arcs 2000. I would say as a beginner skier there was little in the way of easy runs - the first blue we took was very difficult on the first day. But then in comparison the 2 green runs on our side of the resort were very short and one was closed for most of the week. And the lift to them was so long so there was a lot of cold hands.
Once we got our feet the blues were a little easier but as it was over new year the resort was so busy which mean all the runs were packed apart from on our last 2 days.

Accommodation was great. Cheerful & clean. Great food options and wine provided with lunch and dinner. Friendly staff especially at reception and boot/ski hire.
A nice range of shops and bars/restaurants and easy access to 1950 - a short gondola ride away.
We went over to the 1800 resort for apres which was amazing and very reasonably priced which was lovely.

Overall I really rate our trip but would suggest heading over to one of the other parts like 1800 to have more beginner friendly skiing.

Les Arcs is quintessentially a family resort: theres a lot of ski schools, during the french winter breaks its packed, and its more rustic cabins than apres ski. That being said, with 4 stations at different altitudes, some of the best runs and lifts in the french alps, and a connection over to the rest of paradiski; Les Arcs remains one of, if not the best, French ski resorts out there. Arc 1950 in particular is a great hub of life - a ski-in, ski-out village with all the amenities you need!

Les Arcs is a great all round resort, with easy links to a number of airports. The varying altitudes stretching from 3200m down to 1400m offer breathtaking views with endless skiing. The alpine runs make for exciting runs and more scenic runs, perfect for beginners, whereas the black and red runs further up the mountain make for a challenging, yet satisfying experience. The 6 villages across the resort offer great places to eat, stay and apres the night away. Les Arcs is also connected to La Plagne via a large cable car, for those who want to ski a bit more.

I have been coming back to Les arcs for years. My family love it at 1950. We love the little village feel and the option to go up to 2000 in the evening. The restaurants are great and it works really well with my mum who is a non skier as we can easily meet her for lunch in 1950. Would highly recommend. Our Pierre vacances accommodation is also great with sauna etc. the ski runs are well looked after with really good variety. Me and my brother can do a black while my dad opts for a red, for example. Its easy to navigate and really beautiful with trees.

Large resort with lots of varied terrain to suit families and expert skiers alike. The towns themselves aren't particularly pretty - except for 1950.

In school holidays it can become unbearably busy but off peak the slopes are uncrowded and lift queues are small.

Great off piste terrain can be found with a little looking and plenty of challenging runs exist for more advanced skiers.

Les arc 1950 is a quaint village built by Americans so apartments are much bigger than other resorts. It's all very central including ski school so great for families. A shop and bakery nearby and access to the whole lesson arc and also la plagne region.

End of season skiing Runs really well preserved and excellent groomed runs at all levels. Hard and frosty in the morning but superb ESF instructor found great snow for us as the Sun came out and it warmed up through the day. Even managed to find some reasonable off piste/side piste Conditions despite no new Snow for at least a week before we arrived.
The villages themselves were okay Not much in the way of apres ski action or great choice of restaurants but adequate for the one or two nights that we ate outside of our catered accommodation.
Would definitely go to Lazaar again Lots of good options both on and off

Great ski area, worth visiting. Recommend staying arc 1950 or 1800, 2000 isnt quite as nice and below 1800 snow can drop off slightly

I've skied Les Arcs a few times, and stayed in a hotel in Arc 1850, self catering in Peisey Vallandry, and an Air BnB in Bourg St Maurice. I've flown, driven and got the train. Each option has pros and cons. I'm not fond of long transfers so flying is my least favourite travel choice. If you're a solo or twin traveller near London, the ski train is a pain free cost effective way of travelling pretty much straight to resort. My Airbnb was a short walk from the train station. 7 minute walk in the morning, there's pre bookable lockers next to the funicular that takes you to Arc 1600.
If you dont mind driving, the resort is about 9 -10 hours from Caen , ( we ferry from Portsmouth).
Plenty of runs for intermediate skiers, the resort can be skied from one side to the other over a variety of piste types, forest, wide motorway, fairly challenging reds.
Lots of forest runs, especially on the Peisey-vallandry side of the resort, handy for flat light conditions.
Food on the mountain ranges from the fairly fancy Sanglier qui fume to the self service Enfants terrible. Burgers and beer at Comptoir Savoyard at the bottom of the Vallandry lift highly recommended.
We travel the first week of January and while the weather can be changeable, the snow is always good, and the pistes very quiet.

Les Arcs 1800

It was good for intermediate skiers and above.

Tried snowboarding for the first time here. The lessons were fantastic as the instructors were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. However, it was difficult to advance from the beginner area as there were a minimal number of green slopes.

The Après was great but there were few choices to continue the night.

For families on the other hand the resort ran activities such as sledding and curling!

It was slightly difficult to get around the resort, as the last lift from the lower restaurants to upper accommodations was at around 11pm. However, once in the accommodation it was quiet and relaxing.

Connected to other resorts via Bourge saint marie. Very varied mix of terrain. Big area but there are bottlenecks in the morning and at the end of the day so route planning is essential.
