What Skiers Say About Les 2 Alpes

Les 2 Alpes attracts a mixed crowd of beginners through to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with families and groups of friends in their twenties being common. The high altitude consistently delivers good snow conditions, and the lift system—particularly the new Jandri lift—receives widespread praise for minimal queuing. Reviewers frequently mention the lively après-ski scene at Pano Bar and Umbrella Bar, though opinions on the skiing area size vary, with some feeling the advertised piste kilometres overstate the actual terrain. The lower slopes, particularly the narrow runs back to the village at the end of the day, are repeatedly criticised for being icy, overcrowded, and challenging. Most visitors appreciate the range of restaurants and bars in the town, though some note limited and expensive on-mountain dining options.

We stayed in a hotel on the mountain right next to a ski lift so avoided the crowds in the morning. Try doing a day in La Grave if the conditions are perfect. You won’t regret it. Apre at the bottom of the lift in town. Nice out door fires and music.

First time skiing here. High resort with lots of varied runs and terrain .Lively apres ski scene . Lots of freestylers here , very young and lively vibe. The resort caters for beginners , intermediates ( like me ) and families. Thus a good choice for all types of skiers.

With the altitude ensuring at least excellent pistes in most places, especially Northerly facing slopes in Les Deux Alpes, along with excellent piste management generally in this particular resort, you're always guaranteed at least some great skiing here year after year. This year's rather 'thin' period of snow really tested ski piste maintenance , and Les Deux Alpes as usual made the very best of what they had !
The skiing here is coupled with an ambience of a resort that has more than enough apres ski with by and large a friendly atmosphere , enhanced in no small part by some excellent ESF ski school staff who clearly love to be at this particular resort !

No matter what side of the resort you are in there is always a lift going up to the top. Panobar and umbrella bar is amazing for Apres ski and the locals are super friendly. I recommend visiting end of march time for a less busy experience, i never had to queue for a lift. The Spot is a really good restaurant and its owned by fellow brits which is great!

Lift queues were big as in all French resorts, but seemed to be pretty quick due to recent investment in this area

Great slopes although not a HUGE area. Was good for my level. You can ski most of it in a day and probably all of it in 2 days

Great all rounder resort. Plenty of accommodation near the lifts, brilliant Apres with Pano and Umbrella Bar and easily accessible from Grenoble Airport. The resort feels welcoming and doesn’t have the arrogant ‘scenery’ feel of some of the other French resorts. Plenty of run options for all levels.

One of the cheaper options in France but really good value for money. Plenty of snow and a great range of runs for all abilities. Some great options for food and drink in the town. Would recommend Crepes a Gogo for food.

Really nice ski resort town with plenty of options to eat and drink in town. It is a bit smaller than the advertised piste Kms, but there are plenty of runs to cover for a weeks skiing. There are also some pretty good off piste sections, for example, under the Pierre Grosse gondola

I went for a week in Deux Alpes with my brother, nephew, girlfriend and 2 friends. We hired a self catering apartment very close to the bottom of one of the lifts, which was clean, spacious (enough) and featured a hot tub which was a nice luxury for after a day on the slopes.
The conditions for the first half of the week we ok - the pistes were well maintained and there wasn’t too much afternoon slushiness.
However unfortunately during the second half of the week the weather closed in and there were big snow dumps, which would have been great were it not for the very high winds which meant that all the lifts were shut for safety reasons. Fortunately we weee able to get refunds for lift passes on the days the lifts were shut and there are enough bars in the town to entertain you for a couple of days.

I loved Les Deux Alpes I improved my skiing a lot during my trip there, there are a lot of varied runs and the blues were my favourite. We stayed in an airbnb next to the belle etoille lift this is a great location for ski in/ski out and if you are focussing on skiing bc of how close wee were to lift pass office, main lifts and obviously ski in/ski out. We were only a 10 min walk into the main but of town with the bars and clubs. At the start we spent most of our time on Vallee Blanche, it has my favourite green run I've ever done, there rest of the week we mainly spent going up the diable lift the furthest up the mountain we could get because it snowed before we came and not at all during our stay so conditions were icy. The worst 2 runs I'd say are from the top of Belle Etoille to get back down into Les Deux Alpes town. Theres a blue and a green run. The green run is thin and windy and feels exposed, probably my least favourite run ever even though its only a green. The other is a blue its wider but still feels exposed, because the green is so horrible lots of beginners take it down and its very busy at the end of the night, additionally apres is up there and these 2 runs are the only way into les deux alpes town. It also got iceier as the week went on making it all the more challenging I was knocked over by people falling 3 times. So I reccommend at the end of the night taking the Belle Etoille lift down if its icy and there its busy. Views were stunning from every part of each mountain, weather was gorgeous when I was there too making it all the more magical. We didn't go to apres and more focussed on skiing. We mostly cooked our own food to save money but I wish we discovered this burger place Umami earlier in the week. I woul've ate there every night, literally the best burger I've ever had really tasty and everything is homemade, such a welcoming vibe in the restaurant and great value for money. I enjoyed all of my time in Les Deux Alpes and will definetly go back.
