What Skiers Say About Mayrhofen
Mayrhofen attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with many users noting it's less suited to complete beginners due to limited green runs and some challenging blues. The resort is consistently praised for its modern, efficient lift system, well-groomed pistes, and extensive skiable terrain across the Zillertal valley, including glacier access at Hintertux. Users frequently mention the lively après-ski scene, particularly at mountain bars and in the town centre, though some note it can feel overcrowded during peak times and festivals like Snowbombing. The low altitude of the town is a recurring concern, with several reviewers reporting slushy conditions in the afternoons, especially later in the season, and the inability to ski back down to the valley.

Loved it!
The skiable terrain just keeps going and going! You can spend the whole day heading in one direction not knowing how you will get back. We had to download from miles up the valley and get the bus back the one day as we were a long way from the main gondola.
The groomed runs are amazing and the nightlife there overlapped with Snowbombing festival so the place was buzzing.
April time meant the morning skiing was still great however it got a bit slushy in the afternoon.
Would recommend to anybody!

There is a reason people return year upon year, always looked after well by hoteliers and bar staff alike.
