We went to Mayrhofen in December and although there was not heaps of snow on the piste it was still a lovely resort. We stayed at a fabulous spa hotel and loved the food.
Would love to go back when they have more snow.

Close to Innsbruck airport. Easy transfer by road or rail. Working town with life and charm. Easy access to slopes from town, or short bus transfer to neighbouring ski areas. Great hidden spots and there's always good snow to find. Tux glacier for the best itineraries.

Really friendly people and amazing food. Slopes great and well kept. Views were unreal so beautiful.

We went for snowbombing. It was amazing resort. Wish we went earlier in the season as it was hot skiing

Booked last minute & at end of season so got a great deal on a stay at Neuhaus 4☆ hotel half board. Hotel was fantastic skiing/boarding conditions not so. It hadn't snowed for a few weeks & temperature was getting a little warm at around 7-9°c on mountain. Majority of runs were open & well groomed just got quite heavy towards end of day. Apres was good on both mountain & in resort. regular buses running through village to take people to/from Gondolas made Acess to mountains easy. Plenty good places to eat in resort & good bars for evening drinks. There's a couple of nightclubs at top end of village past gondola station so can party till early hours if you wish. There's plenty of great runs for both boarding and skiing & snow parks are top rated. My advice to people is unless you're going for snowbombing festival at beginning of April then go between end of December to beginning of march for best snow conditions.

Mayrhofen hosts Snowbombing music festival each year and I attended 23 - the skiing is great and Austria is a really nice location, both in the valley and on the slopes.

In Snowbombing season, expect great apres ski and lots of extra-curriculars on the slopes, bars and events.

Not a resort for beginners. No green runs. Some challenging blues and reds like black runs. This is for an experienced skier.
Not being able to ski down off the mountain is a shame but that’s down to the town being so low down.

Always a delight to ski when there's a decent coverage off snow, thankfully it had snowed just prior to our arrival.
Efficient lift system serves a good selection of pisted runs for all abilities.
Plenty of opportunities to get off piste and return to join the rest of your party further down the hill.
On-piste drink and food can be both lively and hearty. Obviously some restaurants are better than others.
Best, as it is everywhere, to ski mid-week. If travelling by car at the weekend be prepared to sit in a long queue on the main Ziller valley road.

Good place to go as a beginner. If you’re a experienced, not many black runs and you kind of run out of routes to ski but perfect if you’re beginner/intermediate.

Great snow conditions. The lifts are all set up properly with no walking needed. People are very friendly. Great mountain restaurants.
Goulash soup is a firm favourite.
Loads of skiing areas accessible by buses or the train.
Glacier skiing too.
Downside is the accommodation is expensive.

Fabulous resort to go with friends! Especially groups of mixed riders and abilities. Easy enough to get to from the airport but the airport is very, very busy

Love this place, been coming nearly every year since 1990. There is mad expensive apres if you want it or just a cheap pint if you're still going when you get down the lift. Skiing is a little different in the resorts up and down the valley and it's worth visiting them all right up to the glacier at hintertux.

Two areas, the small straightforward Ahorn side has the bonus of a (relatively easy but there are two steep but wide sections) black run home from 2100 to 670 m vertical! The Penken side is extensive with multiple peaks to ride around - all with great mountain restaurant options, from quiet and scenic dining to boisterous singalong pubs.

The town has awesome dining options, something for everyone. Easy 1.5 hours from Innsbruck airport

Resort is a good base to ski from, it has everything you need in terms of restaurants, shops & things to do for those who dont ski. Fast lifts. Good ski hire options. Fair prices (for a ski resort).

Once in main town for apres head up the street instead of down . Also have a look at the famous run harakiri

Mayrhofen is one favourite places on this planet! It feels properly Alpine and genuinely welcoming the moment you arrive in the town. Set in the stunning Zillertal Valley along the Ziller river (which is a site to behold itself) and surrounded on three sides by dramatic mountains, it's become our family's absolute must destination each year and when I say the kids LOVE it, I mean they start asking when they're going back before we've even unpacked our suitcases at home.

Mayrhofen itself is compact, quite lively and so easy to navigate, with everything off of one High Street. It has a brilliant mix of traditional Austrian charm and modern facilities dotted all over the place. There's loads of cafés, bars and restaurants all within walking distance of your hotel, and the choice of food is fantastic! You can even choose a different style cuisine everynight of the week (thought Schnitzel and Strudel are the most tempting for me), everyone in the family finds something they genuinely love at breakfast and the variety means we never get bored plus the quality is consistently excellent and each place has its stand out dish!

Access on to the mountains is easy peasy, with the Penken and Ahorn lifts in the middle and top of the High Street, and the super modern lifts means you're up in the Alps within minutes. The ski schools here are absolutely ace (SMT being out fave), the instructors are so patient, fun and brilliant with kids (our 4 year old was better than his mum by the end of the week he did lessons). He’s come on leaps and bounds every visit. Also the scenery is genuinely jaw-dropping (I would say that as well as Mayrhofen was the first place I went up a mountain). My absolute favourite place on the mountain is the Schneekerhutte, great food, drink and views where it feels like you’re on top of the world.

But it's not all about the slopes. The swimming pool facilities at Erlenisbad are a huge hit with the family and a perfect way for winding down after a day on the mountain or for those rare rest days. There's also plenty of entertainment in the evenings to keep everyone happy, from traditional music nights to escape rooms to events throughout the season (Altitude Comedy Festival being the best - though we do need a babysitter to go see the shows in the evening).

What really stands out about Mayrhofen is the atmosphere. It's friendly, fun and international without losing its identity, it also has a brilliant energy year-round. It feels like a place genuinely built for people and families to enjoy themselves without being tacky or overdeveloped (or too pricey)

I'd happily recommend Mayrhofen to anyone, and I do a lot! But especially to families, people new to skiing or wanting to learn to ski. It's somewhere that ticks every box: mountains, culture, great food, outstanding facilities for kids, and a proper sense of Mountain madness all rolled into one. It's somewhere you visit once… and then start planning your return before you've even left. For us, it's become more than just a holiday destination, it's the place on earth our kids love most. And honestly, we feel exactly the same.

Amazing location, great ski in, ski out. Apres ski. Really good atmosphere and friendly location. Ski instructors amazing and their patience was very much needed at
times.

We greatly enjoyed Mayrhofen. It is a pleasant town in a lovely vally, with plenty of skiing in the surrounding areas. That includes some very busy parts, a small quiet area with a challenging but very uncrowded long piste down and aglacier to boot. Not cheap but quite stylish.

Gorgeous resort! Fresh powder and lovely groomed runs. Not too busy as there’s so many runs to do.
Fab deal at the Alpenhotel Kramerwirt with the super ski pass to 4 different resorts, all within 15/20mins. Amazing hotel, gorgeous spa and food.
Have to mention the beautiful long black that runs of Ahorn. Easy for a black and the best run in Mayrhofen!

Been here 5 times. Providing you get decent snow there’s not much this place doesn’t have. Loads of terrain to suit all. Great parks and cracking apres. Would happily go again
