What Skiers Say About Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel attracts predominantly advanced and expert skiers, with reviewers consistently praising the extensive ski area, modern lift infrastructure with heated seats, and well-groomed pistes. The resort is noted for its charming old town, quality on-mountain restaurants, and vibrant après-ski scene, particularly at venues like The Londoner. However, the low altitude means snow conditions can be unreliable, with many reviewers reporting icy slopes and dependence on artificial snowmaking. The resort is repeatedly described as expensive for accommodation, dining, and drinks, though some find the quality justifies the cost.

Great skiing, lots of variation in piste colours and a big park. Warm seated lifts, not overly busy mid January, nothing worse than slope traffic. Lovely town with lots of things to do and places to eat.

A great large resort with a variety of runs available. Some parts were icy on some days. Fun black runs and good snowpark. Lift wait time essentially non existent and great lift quality.

Great place when there is snow. Go earlier in the season. When there last March there wasn't enough snow to ski back to base so had to catch the gondola back down. Great access to Jochberg ski area was a plus!

More calm and quiet than larger St. Anton and felt more spread out, bussing from base to base. Great subdued vibe and great terrain for intermediates and experts. Didn't feel like a spot for backcountry riders/skiers. Good family spot can other Austrian resorts.

Kitzbuhel has been a great resort for skiërs at any level. We have e joyed holidays with friends here and with our children. It has great connections with the weider Skiwelt skiresort which makes it a fantastic place to spend your ski holiday. The restaurants are plenty along all routes.

Love the picturesque town of kitzbuhel and ski area. So many runs that are perfectly groomed and linked up together - has to be my favourite resort. Also cant beat the chance to ski the famous slopes of the Hannenkamm race. Great restauarants and town to relax at after. Perfect for everyone; families, couples and friends!

The ski resort is nice and well maintained but it's too low the altitude so the slopes will be very icy if it's not snowing often

A lovely resort with a great ski pass to access many other areas, eg Kirchberg .. pistes are well groomed with snow cannons when needed, a resort which is ideal for intermediate skiing and obviously being Kitzbuhl a great nightlife too

Amazing place to ski, with lots of accessible runs and plenty of places to eat / drink in the mountains. The kaiserhof hotel is also fantastic, with a great location.

Excellent variety of ski slopes. Some quite challenging blue runs so maybe not the best for real beginners. Excellent apres ski bar just off the cable car at the bottom. Beautiful resort with plenty of restaurants to grab a drink and a bite to eat on the mountain.

Overall I throughly enjoyed it. We went for the new year in 2019-2020. We did not stay in a hotel/chalet on the slope but one which was a 5-10 minute bus ride away which didnt make travel difficult.

The slopes werent too busy and was easy to get a meal at the slope restaurants at lunch time. There were also plenty of options to choose from, not just canteens but good sit down meals.

I loved the family friendly skiing, many family groups, and lovely relaxed atmosphere. The town is pretty to walk through and although most hotels are in the village and not on the slopes, the buses through town to lifts was very efficient and easy to hope on/off. Enjoyed going to see an ice hockey game which was a bonus.
The Austrians working there were very friendly and welcoming and spoke excellent English. The food was also great.

Was here last winter, around mid February time. Weather wasn't as snowy as we would have wanted, but the quality of groomed runs, especially further up the mountain, was exceptional. There's a vast area for skiing, as well as close proximity to the skiwelt area. Accommodation and eating out was good, however as with the rest of the resort it was quite expensive, and the value for money was not as good as other resorts such as Ellmau, which is actually visible from the top of the main lifts. In conclusion, a good resort with plenty of history and good variety of runs, however maybe not as good value for money as elsewhere.

Home of the Hahnenkamm, that adds an extra bit of magic for me, being able to ski sections of the slope raced on, incredible.
Since having started skiing again after almost a 20 year break, I've done Kitzbuhel twice, Cervina and Zell am See. From the reviews I've read and from what I've seen, Austria is very hard to beat, I think you'd struggle to have a good holiday in Austria, only the weather could let you down. I can't wait to get back to Kitzbuhel.

Been visiting Kitz for 40+ years and travelled to many countries for skiing but this is still the best. The skiing, atmosphere and apres ski plus fab food surpasses anywhere else I've visited. Not cheap but believe me, it's worth it!
