What Skiers Say About Ischgl

Ischgl attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the extensive, well-groomed piste network and modern, efficient lift system with heated seats. The après-ski scene is frequently described as among the best in Austria, with lively bars both on-mountain and in the village, though this party atmosphere may not suit all visitors. Snow quality and grooming receive high marks, with many noting the resort's high altitude ensures good conditions into spring. Common complaints centre on the busy, steep, and mogulled home runs back to the village in the afternoon, high prices for accommodation and on-mountain dining, and limited terrain suitable for beginners.

Ischgl is a skiers paradise, lots of different terrain, pistes are well laid out and well maintained. It is busy though especially getting up the mountain in the mornings and around the Idalp area but it doesnt take long to find the pistes less used by ski schools and avoid the bottlenecks that there are on the easier blue runs. Lifts are modern, high capacity and the heated seats are a real luxury!
Apres ski options in Ischgl are rightly famed, noisy and boisterous, great for the younger crowd and older party animals.

Absolutely love Ischgl the people are friendly the town is lovely full of charm the food is fabulous lots of choice, you can also do self catering there's shops to buy food and drinks ! Brilliant access to the lifts which have various area's to access, hundreds of Kilometres of fabulous slopes, plenty of ski lockers and hire shops near to lifts we also visited the silvretta therme, a short walk through a tunnel for us, it's a new beautiful leisure center where we had a massage 10/10 but you can swim outside and use a sauna there's so much more to do. I have been visiting Ischgl for many years and what's noticeable is that money is put back into the resort, it's state of the art the lift seats are heated there's no silly button lifts they're all clean and well maintained, the only negative I have is I need another holiday when I get home! It's a very beautiful friendly place!

Ischgl is the quaintest ski town! Great accommodations, many different resorts to stay in, many heated seat ski lifts, ski routes that cross into Switzerland and so much more ! I enjoyed a wide variety of European food all over the city and slopes. Ski routes are wide, accessible, and maintained! Best to get on the mountain early :)

Train/bus from Innsbruck to Ischgl reliable if rather crowded, little space for luggage/skis.Town lively with many bars and restaurants, lots of options on accommodation- 5star hotel to self catering apts. Pardatschgrat gondola much quieter than Silvrettabahn. Well groomed but busy if upper slopes closed due weather. Alp Trida area nice for intermediates. More challenging off Greitspitze and Palinkopf.Runs 5 and 1a nice alternative to 1 returning to Ischgl (much quieter). On mountain restaurants functional and lack charm.

My favourite resort in Austria. Such a great variety of slopes for all ski levels, most wide and a very good length. Had such a great experience with the ski school there which really gave me the extra confidence I needed to tackle my first black runs. Lovely restaurants on the slopes and around the town, have been twice already and I plan on returning !

Best resort for apres ski ever. Runs back to the valley can get busy in the afternoon. Efficient lift system but gets a bit busy in places.

Terrific all round resort with excellent skiing, apres and restaurants. Great options for a group of friends or families. The buses are easy to navigate if you arent staying centrally (e.g in Versahl), which is really helpful. Its worth a trip up to Kappl for the day for a calmer, quieter resort.

The resort was fun, lots on offer - ski/snowboard, go on a toboggan run at night, apres ski locations in abundance. It's close to the border so you can ski on the Swiss side too. However, i dont think it always feels family friendly/appropriate as many cenues have female staff wearing very revealing outfits. We came early Feb 2024 and it was super warm in the village, the main lift broke for 2 hours in the morning causing chaos, and even bkue runs felt quite challenging. our accommodation was great, and food everywhere is delicious! Overall, we would return, but would take a guide to navigate the runs/slopes better.

Great resort for all abilities, although intermediate is recommended. Lively nightlife and the best Apres ski in Austria in my opinion. I have visited 4 times and will definitely return again.

Ischgl is an excellent ski resort for intermediate and advanced skiers. The apres ski scene is unrivaled with bars and clubs to suit everyones needs. Due to it being high altitude it is also snow safe and the Austrians really know how to make one feel at home.
