What Skiers Say About Ischgl

Ischgl attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the extensive, well-groomed piste network and modern, efficient lift system with heated seats. The après-ski scene is frequently described as among the best in Austria, with lively bars both on-mountain and in the village, though this party atmosphere may not suit all visitors. Snow quality and grooming receive high marks, with many noting the resort's high altitude ensures good conditions into spring. Common complaints centre on the busy, steep, and mogulled home runs back to the village in the afternoon, high prices for accommodation and on-mountain dining, and limited terrain suitable for beginners.

Spent a week with family and had a very enjoyable week. Good skiing with lots of options for the different levels in our group and lots of options for Apres.
Would return for future skiing holidays!

I absolutely loved Ischgl!! Had a great 4 days skiing there and exploring the town. The runs were well groomed and not overly crowded even though it was just before Christmas. Plenty of gondolas and lifts- 46 in all (35 were running based on snow conditions) taking you to great views and even have a run that takes you over to Switzerland to do some duty-free shopping! It was my first time there and I cant wait to go back-looking forward to many more skiing trips!!

Went to Ischgl in early April 2024, with a friends family. All competent skiers and really enjoyed making the most of the whole resort, skiing down into Switzerland and across all of the Austrian area. It was warm so the tree runs lower down werent perfect, but that was to be expected. We got good snow and the off piste held up really nicely higher up. Theres so much skiable off piste that even 2/3 days after a big dump there were still plenty of fresh tracks to be made even under some of the main lifts! Apres was top tier, both on the mountain and down at the bottom. Often headed straight into the town as the conveyer belts under the mountain get you everywhere super easily after youve skied back home.

Ischgl is the best resort there is. The lifts are modern and efficient and the slopes plus the off piste are epic. It is not really for beginners but an excellent goal to aim for! The only areas I would avoid are the runs into town towards the end of the day because it gets moguled up but you can get the gondola down instead and have one more run at the top!

Unreal area for skiing and snowboarding, so much care given to the piste and unreal night life. The start and end of season concerts are so well planned and a great event. Skiing into samnaun is easy and lovely big wide open runs. Plenty to keep even the most experienced skiers and boarders happy and excited for the next day. Beginners are well looked after with some lovely starter slopes at a decent altitude to ensure a good snow to learn all. All round fantastic resort

I absolutely love the resort. The skiing is good for all abilitys from expert to beginner. The bars and apres ski are also brilliant and all together make an amazing holiday. The Swiss border and bronze, silver and gold run styles also makes the resort challenging and fun for all

One of my favourite resorts! Really good snow even late in the season- we had plenty of powder and some bluebird days. Resort location is great, can get around the whole ski-able area in a day without repeat runs. Good amount of challenging pistes for advanced skiers and really good off piste and tree runs. We also rarely found over crowded pistes, especially towards the Swiss side. Nightlife was absolutely fantastic, great apres at the Paznauer Taja on the mountain and the Kuhstahl in the town. Perfect for anyone who loves to ski and loves to party!

I did my ski season here spending 3 months out there. Its an advanced skiers paradise with almost 300km of pieste, supplemented by 3 small resorts in the same valley and the underated Galtur.

The apres scene is fantastic, you could party all day and night if you wanted. The resort is constantly upgrading its lift infrastructure too so it really cant be beaten. The queues are only really an issue during commuting hours and even then its usually only a problem at half term. Be sure to ski red 7 while youre there!

Expensive but worth every penny. Full of Austrians and still local. One of the best parks in Europe, and an apres ski to match.

Ischgl offers high quality hotels, great apres and an efficient lift system. The ski area itself is relatively compact but does provide access to some great off piste and itinerary runs. The main ski area is accessed via any 1 of 3 model lifts, with the option to transfer back down if you dont fancy the home runs that can become busy and gnarly at the end of the day. Like many Austrian resorts, pistes and lifts are numbered which maybe helps if youre not a local. An added benefit is the option to ski into Switzerland and maybe enjoy the duty free shops of Samnaun. One of my favourite Austrian resorts.

Been to Ischgl twice and had a brilliant time on both occasions. There is a large ski area with well maintained slopes and some of the best ski lifts I have ridden. There is a good variety for slopes from blues, reds and blacks which will keep all levels of skier busy and content.
I would highly recommend the run over the mountain to Switzerland and down to the duty-free village of Samnaun.

Ischgl has something for everybody! BIG Party Town, both on the mountain and in the town. Everybody should experience mountain side bars pumping out Euro Pop at least once on the trip. They are banged out from lunchtime until late afternoon when for the punters own safety they are told to leave.
The other side of this is that the pistes are much quieter in the afternoon, so a great time to clock up the miles.
The lift system and groomed runs are managed exceptionally well, signage is great and in addition you can ski into Samnaun Switzerland on a duty free run.
A few years ago the Piz Val Gronda cable car was installed that opened up a huge free ride area, which adds to the already numerous off piste lines.
All in all Ischgl is a great resort for whatever you're looking for whether its cruising the groomers, hunting down off-piste freshies, or just there for the apres!!
In my humble opinion Austrian resorts offer the very best all-around mountain experience with an unrivalled welcoming hospitality and where everybody wants you to have a great time, both on and off the mountain and Ischgl will not let you down!

As glamorous as St Anton and lively to boot, Ischgl has it all. Accommodation is mostly hotels and typically upper end but for the money they are decent value and high quality. On the mountain, the large pisted area is well serviced by an efficient lift system. Restaurants on the mountain and in resort are fantastic and most tastes are suitably catered for. A gem of a resort

I skied here in the February half term. The queues getting out of the village in the morning were large and slow moving however, once up on the mountain, queues largely disappeared and it was easy to cover the large ski area.
The skiing is on well groomed runs, generally above the treeline. I initially found the area slightly confusing, but after a day found it easy to plan a route to get around and to whatever area we were heading for.
Skiing over to Samnaun in Switzerland vial the long Smugglers Run is a lovely long run, but beware the relatively flat ending to get to the cable car.
Mountain restaurants are plentiful, varied and good quality.
Apres Ski in Ishgl is renowned and there is plenty of fun to be had.
