What Skiers Say About Ischgl
Ischgl attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the extensive, well-groomed piste network and modern, efficient lift system with heated seats. The après-ski scene is frequently described as among the best in Austria, with lively bars both on-mountain and in the village, though this party atmosphere may not suit all visitors. Snow quality and grooming receive high marks, with many noting the resort's high altitude ensures good conditions into spring. Common complaints centre on the busy, steep, and mogulled home runs back to the village in the afternoon, high prices for accommodation and on-mountain dining, and limited terrain suitable for beginners.

The apres scene is fantastic, you could party all day and night if you wanted. The resort is constantly upgrading its lift infrastructure too so it really cant be beaten. The queues are only really an issue during commuting hours and even then its usually only a problem at half term. Be sure to ski red 7 while youre there!
I would highly recommend the run over the mountain to Switzerland and down to the duty-free village of Samnaun.
The other side of this is that the pistes are much quieter in the afternoon, so a great time to clock up the miles.
The lift system and groomed runs are managed exceptionally well, signage is great and in addition you can ski into Samnaun Switzerland on a duty free run.
A few years ago the Piz Val Gronda cable car was installed that opened up a huge free ride area, which adds to the already numerous off piste lines.
All in all Ischgl is a great resort for whatever you're looking for whether its cruising the groomers, hunting down off-piste freshies, or just there for the apres!!
In my humble opinion Austrian resorts offer the very best all-around mountain experience with an unrivalled welcoming hospitality and where everybody wants you to have a great time, both on and off the mountain and Ischgl will not let you down!
The skiing is on well groomed runs, generally above the treeline. I initially found the area slightly confusing, but after a day found it easy to plan a route to get around and to whatever area we were heading for.
Skiing over to Samnaun in Switzerland vial the long Smugglers Run is a lovely long run, but beware the relatively flat ending to get to the cable car.
Mountain restaurants are plentiful, varied and good quality.
Apres Ski in Ishgl is renowned and there is plenty of fun to be had.
