What Skiers Say About Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain attracts a wide range of visitors from beginners through to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with many reviewers highlighting it as the largest and most accessible resort in Southern Ontario, particularly for those travelling from Toronto and the GTA. The village at the base receives consistent praise for its atmosphere, dining options, and additional activities beyond skiing. Reviewers repeatedly mention that weekdays offer a much better experience than weekends, when lift queues become significantly longer and crowds impact enjoyment. Snow conditions are variable, with artificial snowmaking maintaining coverage but reviewers frequently noting icy patches and limited natural powder. Pricing is a common criticism, with many users stating lift tickets, food, and accommodation are expensive relative to what the resort offers compared to larger destinations.

Good starter hills- not mountains. Nice views, and very family friendly and beginner friendly. Not impressive for advanced skiers.

Lots of hills to choose from but very busy and short runs. Lots of restaurant options and you can grab beaver tails at the top of one of the lifts. Lift lineups can get pretty long on weekends.

Blue mountain looks so pretty, even the village was a good place to stroll around after shredding. Its a bit pricey on my side but it is a good area to do snowboarding. I had my own equipment so I did not have to go through the rental, but it the area seems busy especially after a thick snowfall.

Blue Mountain has great terrain with the most ski runs in Ontario. Most lifts are high-speed allowing lots of runs per hour. The village has lots of great restaurants and options for accommodation, but you can save a bit of money staying/eating out in the nearby town of Collingwood. There's plenty of activities on-resort for the whole family.

The only public hill in the collingwood area, crammed with novice skiers wth no real concept of on hill etiquette. Good snow making, decent bar scene, decent food and retail. If youre up early on a Monday to Wednesday - you can find decent first tracks. Start at the north end, quieter, more advanced hills

For the limited options in the area, Blue Mountain is likely the best resort close(ish) to the GTA. I like their ticket system, which allows you to access lifts for 8 hours from your first lift entry - so I dont have to worry about missing the first lifts of the day. Theres plenty of runs open for night skiing, and the Village looks pretty from the top when its lit up. The snow machines were on all day both times I was there recently, so less ice/rock patches, which was nice. However, the machines do leave goggles quite icy, impacting visibility significantly as the day goes on. I was impressed with the amount of runs to choose from. Some black diamonds do have steeper parts, but nothing too challenging. You cant compare anything in Ontario to the Rockies, but for what you get, BM is alright. Ticket cost goes way up on the day of so I would recommend getting them online at least the day before. Still pricey but when you dont have many options you take what you can get.

Decent ski resort, but gets really crowded at times. Can be difficult to justify the cost because of this.

Sometimes you get some great ski conditions; other times there is almost now snow. Pretty crowded, and longer lines for parking and lifts on the weekend: this is the resort closest to where I live.

For skiers and boarders based out of Ontario, Canada there really aren't any other options for skiing besides Blue Mountain. As a result, Blue Mountain can get quite overcrowded on weekends. If you live in the GTA, there are smaller resorts nearbye, but they are typically private clubs, with very small terrain. Blue Mountain, has the largest elevation in Ontario, and the most runs so it is the best option in terms of terrain.

Blue Mountain is great for Ontario where there is very little elevation. It has 43 runs, with various terrain. If your looking for powder you're in the wrong province. The village is a great place to stay, ski in and out and just about everything you'd want in a culinary sense. They have onsite groceries, liquor store and they even have a cannabis store located in the village. The biggest downfall, it is so busy and they bus people in front the city. Go midweek to avoid the crowds.

Hills are mostly steep and often very icy. Can get quite busy on weekends and filled with lots of families. Bar options in the village are okay and the food is pretty good. Beavertails on the top is the best part but should have more things like that

Collingwood is a quaint little town, we stayed in blue mountain village, I would recommend that for the full authentic experience. Not comparable to European ski towns (to what Ive seen in photos, Ive always wanted to go!) but its the closest weve got lol!! Good bang for your buck

I recently visited Blue Mountain Slopes in Ontario, and while the views were beautiful, I was disappointed with the overall experience. The slopes were overcrowded, and the lift lines were frustratingly long. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and the snow conditions weren't great, making skiing less enjoyable. The resort has potential, but I expected better for the price. Would consider other options next time.
