What Skiers Say About Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb attracts skiers and snowboarders across all ability levels, from beginners to experts. Reviewers consistently praise the massive skiable terrain across two mountains, the variety of runs including off-piste and tree skiing, and the efficient lift system connecting Whistler and Blackcomb via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Snow conditions are frequently mentioned as variable, with several users noting rain at lower elevations, icy patches, and inconsistent coverage depending on the season. The resort is repeatedly described as expensive, with high costs for lift tickets, accommodation, food, and dining both on and off the mountain. Lift queues, particularly on weekends and peak times, are a common complaint, with waits of 20-40 minutes reported at busy periods.

Whistler is a Mecca that feels like Disney world but for skiers. With a large village and many accommodation options, your options are plentiful but with the downside of being expensive. The snow is incredible and the alpine has some of the best runs I’ve ever hit in my life.

On a good powder day, Whistler is hard to beat! Skiing through the trees is absolute bliss. Lift queues were pretty brutal though and some groomed runs felt like they were done a bit lazily? Forget accommodation options and affordability. Vail’s acquisition of the resort changed Whistler for the worse. It’s firmly designed as a playground for rich Americans and locals who can justify seasons passes. No one in between.

Get there early to line up for the gondolas. More people as the day goes on. Whistler runs are wider and more beginner friendly.

Whistler is THE best. It takes days to explore the full mountain. There truly is something for everyone there. The mountain is well groomed and maintained and the village has some of the best Après you could imagine. Lots of lodges up mountain for a quick bevy or snack. Hotels and accommodation right in the village for quick access to everything. Ski in/out available.

Loved my 1 night and 2 days in Whistler/ Blackcomb. It was earlier in the season so the whole mountain wasn’t open but they still did an amazing job of keeping as much open as possible. The lines moved quickly and efficiently. All in all, a great experience!

Great. Whisler Blackcomb never misses, but it’s still not better than Lake Louise. Alberta and inner bc mountains have better snow

Whistler blackcomb is a lot bigger than you’d think so make sure you know which runs you’re going down to avoid skiing into another village. Some of the runs are gorgeous and search on Reddit for hidden gems/ Easter eggs on the mountains like ice caves etc. Overall the mountains, restaurants and stores are phenomenal.

I live in pemberton and love snowboarding in Whistler but as a local resident and Canadian I should not be paying over $1800 for a seasons pass. And $300 for me to bring a buddy up for the day is also crazy.

(Didn’t mean to rate mogul & tree runs)

Whistler Blackcomb is a stunning resort with an incredible amount of skiable terrain. We went on the two days following Christmas and were really surprised to find that it was super quiet (as far as this resort goes)- we didn’t wait longer than 2 minutes in a lift queue. I find that the runs here are not as groomed as in European resorts, and a lot can have powdery clumps/ moguls, but with so much terrain you’ll be able to find some fun runs that suit you (I prefer groomed). Blackcomb has some great blues- Seventh Heaven is a highlight!

We visited during NYE until Jan 11th.
Variable conditions, we had rain and it also dumped snow. Whistler always brings it !
Après is okay, nothing like they do in Europe. It’s a resort town so expect to pay full price. Holiday season super busy but mid week is calm !
Travelling from Vancouver airport to Whistler is easy , just take a bus or a private charter, 2 hours .
Many housing options in village or out .

Whistler is always a good time but the busiest resort in North America!

Amazing resort so much life and character just a little pricey at times. The skiing is unbelievable, so many different runs to do across the 2 mountains.

Great ski area that sadly has become simply 'a bit less' over the years as Vails ownership has impacted aspects of the mountain experience that used to differentiate Whistler.

Been coming here nearly every weekend for the past two years, never gets old, especially on a bluebird powder day! Having skied in Austria and France for the majority of my ski life, these are some of the best runs I’ve skied. Favourite run is definitely the blackcomb glacier (when the T bar is working!). Lift lines are a bit of a nightmare but just have to plan accordingly.

I have been going to whistler for many years, it continues to be absolutely amazing! The runs are very wide and long, and there are very many of them, meaning despite there being lots of people it doesn’t feel over crowded and you feel like you are skiing for ages. The food on the mountain is impeccable with a huge variety of options, ranging from Mexican to ramen. Staff and guests both are hugely friendly as well and welcoming. Having skied in both Europe and whistler, whistler is just unmatched and I have fallen in love with the place!

Huge resort with tons of terrain - something for all levels! Quite busy (as expected) but didn't wait more than 10-15 mins in a lift line. Food is expensive but tasty (tried chili and ramen, both excellent)
