What Skiers Say About Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb attracts skiers and snowboarders across all ability levels, from beginners to experts. Reviewers consistently praise the massive skiable terrain across two mountains, the variety of runs including off-piste and tree skiing, and the efficient lift system connecting Whistler and Blackcomb via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. Snow conditions are frequently mentioned as variable, with several users noting rain at lower elevations, icy patches, and inconsistent coverage depending on the season. The resort is repeatedly described as expensive, with high costs for lift tickets, accommodation, food, and dining both on and off the mountain. Lift queues, particularly on weekends and peak times, are a common complaint, with waits of 20-40 minutes reported at busy periods.

Ive been riding Whistler for 30 years and have seen it change and progress. There is SO MUCH terrain, the village is great with loads of places to eat. A good variety of places to stay.

It would be great if there was any section of the mountain open for night skiing

I had a trip up there recently, it was my first time visiting Whistler! I was quite impressed by the village, the slopes were absolutely massive and amazing. Great restaurants up there and service was well done. Overall would recommend for a west coast vibe

I have skied six mountains so far this season and Whistler has had by far the best snow. There are plenty of areas where there are fewer beginners that allow you to really have fun. Some good powder areas that are not too full of trees and allow you to explore the backcountry. Plenty of options for restaurants on the mountain. They even had a DJ at one of the restaurant areas on an outdoor patio. I didnt do them, but there are some nice double black diamonds. Not a lot of cheap place for accommodations that are relatively easily drive from Vancouver or Squamish. Lots of free parking I recommend Creekside as its covered and easy to get to the sloops although you have to take the gondola to get to Blackcomb

Whistler is our Sunday home. My kid enjoys ski school one of the only full-day, full-day programs around. And I love skiing the resort, as well as using it to access the backcountry. Endless treasure hunt for powder zones and terrific spots to stop for a drink or a bite.

I have spent over 6 months in whistler and here is what I would say, if visiting in peak times lift queues can be extremely long however in quieter times the resort of easily navigable and so much fun for beginners and high standard skiers due to the huge availability of terrain including back bowls, the ski parks dont fully open until later in the season however they are perfect for park rats. The nightlife is unmatched to any other skii resort and I would recommend going to Merlins when the live music is on!

Whistler was a great mountain. I went for a week with 15 friends. We went within the first two weeks of January and it was empty, which is great if you think about crowds and lines, however the bar vibes werent to our expectations until the weekend hit. The mountain was beautiful, groomed runs, as well as fresh powder, fun tree runs, and the one park we came across was fun too. Overall it was a great mountain, good for a big group like us, but I can also imagine doing runs with one or two friends and still having a blast. The views are great, the runs were fun, but I will advise that the second week of January had an arctic blast, it was -14 on our third day out there and that was last January. We just heard that its happening again around this time. It was freezing but we still had fun, so just keep that in mind when booking!

Long lift lines and high traffic on slopes during peak times. Many runs marked as groomed were not. However the ski area is really large with different areas/terrain to explore!

Incredible terrain but way too expensive and expect to stand in line.... For everything. Coast conditions - usually quite wet but awesome tree runs if you know where to go.

Whistler has become unaffordable over the years. For $285 per day (in 2025), one would expect all the slopes to be groomed, weather permitting. Expect long queues and overpriced food, drinks and accommodation. Our preference is to skip Whistler all together and rather use the Epic Pass funds for a ski trip to Austria every other year.

Great overall resort for adults and families. A verity of accusations and food options. Dine in or self prepare. Two grocery store in vicinity

Area is expensive. Typical for report towns. Some restaurants are closed due to lack of staff. Lack of staff housing and high price of rent create staffing shortages.

Overall quality of resort is 8/10

I have been skiing at whistler since I could walk, great resort - 20 years later and Im still finding new routes to discover. Has gotten busier but with new lifts lines are manageable. The Blackcomb side is usually less busy.

The terrain is seemingly endless. Both mountains offer a range of riding, blackcomb is a little better for snowboarding as whistler has more flat sections.
The lineups are normally bad and powder days at the weekend are insane
