Big White Review Summary

Big White attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from families with young children to advanced riders seeking powder and tree runs. The most consistent praise centres on champagne powder snow, minimal lift queues (especially midweek), extensive tree skiing, and a compact, family-friendly village with ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Reviewers frequently mention the resort's suitability for all ability levels, though several note that even green runs can be steep. The most common complaint is poor visibility during storms, earning it the nickname 'Big White-Out' among locals. Some reviews highlight limited nightlife and après-ski options compared to larger resorts, and a few mention higher prices for food and accommodation.

Big white is an awesome hill, it has a wide range of terrain for for a family vacation or a trip with different level skiers, its perfect. Bigwhite has a lot of beginner and intermediate runs, but there are only select areas of advance runs such as the gem lake, the falcon and the cliff. Personally the trees at the powder chair are phenomenal on a powder day and so is the tea bar. On a foggy day I would go to the Black Forest, and if you want to go fast go to the ghost and ridge. The lift lines are long but they move fast, the vast number of lifts also help with them. Overall if you are not a extreme skier and just want a enjoyable vacation with friends or family I would definitely go here.

Big white is rated one of the best resorts in Canada for a reason! Extremely family friendly, balanced mix of skiers and snowboarders, and a wonderful culture in a beautiful place. Though the slopes can be a tad busy at times its not a difficult feat to get out there and find a quiet spot to just take in the view.
The wide variety of terrain accommodates all levels of skiers. Long winding greens, nicely maintained blues and steep blacks along with some spacious but challenging tree runs will have you bringing your lunch on the lift so you dont miss out on the oppor(turnity).
The chalets are top notch and anyone who walks through the main area for the first time is bound to be taken aback by the beautiful architecture. Perfectly warm and cozy restaurants and bars to go and get the essentials, even listen to some live music after a long day of getting after it!

If you are trying to decide on a place to get some turns in with your friends this season Big White is the one place for you!

Awesome hill! Never felt too crowded, food in the middle of the slope was fantastic. Took snowboarding lessons there and it was a fun experience. Would love to go again

Big white is Canadas #1 family ski resort for a reason. The staff are awesome and on a good snow year it's hard to beat the Okanagan champagne powder. Super close to town only 45 minutes away and there's lots of accommodation, restaurants and a couple pubs too. The terrain off the groomers and set runs seems endless with vast tree runs with lots of untouched snow. Perfection in everyday.

Excellent resort with plenty to ski. Lift lines were never longer than 15 minutes!
Slopes were open and well groomed, but lacking a steep and challenging groomed run.
Cliff and Falcon provide some awesome free ride skiing for all levels.
The tree skiing is fantastic across the whole resort, Gem Lake has almost limitless tree lines to explore.
The Apres-Ski is good fun and Snowshoe Sams is always busy on the weekend.
Some great places to eat in the resort, with a good range of cuisines to enjoy.
Great snow, friendly people and a fun environment makes Big White a great place for anyone!

Simply the best powder I have ever skied in. Head to Big White in January and you would have to be unlucky not to experience some epic powder tree runs. My top tip is head across to Gem Lake early for some untouched snow. However this means heading back to the village on some of the slower chair lifts. Keep in mind the name Big White refers to Big White Out so expect visibility to be poor for a lot of your trip. However, that means its snowing and there are plenty of trees to hide in and take advantage of the powder!

Quick lifts up since they have a few 6 person chairs. There are many options for lodging and restaurants. A little jit out of the way, but worth the drive.

Ive skied and snowboarded at big white for 15 years and worked on the hill in the past. Having skied at many of the resorts in the BC area I can confidently say big white is the most versatile ski hill Ive skied at. It has shortcomings in the more difficult terrain because of lack of slack country and inbounds big mountain terrain however for someone visiting it would take multiple days days to ski all the terrain.

Big White is a great option for families and one of the best ski-in ski-out options in Canada. Tons of lodging options available also makes it budget friendly or fancy at one's desire. The slopes are very family friendly and progressive and there a not a whole lot of sketchy steep areas (which might be a downside if you are more on the adventurer side). The snow condition is consistently pretty good but white outs are frequent, not a big problem if you like tree skiing tho.
Apres ski is awesome with several different options to pretty much all ages. A nice well maintained ski rink and fireworks is the chery on the top for the kids.

Big white is the perfect resort for anyone who loves winter sports whether it is hockey, snowshoeing, or the classics! The ski terrain itself is best in class and has terrain that can accommodate all skill levels and preferences! The tree terrain is one of the highlights especially on a foggy powder day!! Bigwhite truly is the best of the best for all things winter and family fun!

Big White Ski Resort is a winter wonderland that lives up to its name, offering an impressive 750cm of annual snowfall and 118 runs. Also has Canadas largest ski-in, ski-out village, the resort is great for all skill levels and is particularly family-friendly, also has activities beyond skiing like tubing and skating. While sometimes you cant see a foot infront of you due to fog, the excellent snow, terrain including 5 alpine bowls, and the unique Snow Ghosts tree skiing make Big White one of my all time favourite mountains.. not including how wild snowshoe Sams gets after along day on the hill!

I have been skiing Big White resort for the last 13yrs. My kids have grown up there. The ski school and lessons are top notch. If you need a room, they have many options from hotels to chalets that sleep 14.

The hockey rink has weekly games and fireworks every Saturday. This really is a family focus resort.

The patrol on the hill are well trained(used them once or twice unfortunalty) and always around to help point you in the right direction.

This is a weekday mountain. Will rarely ever stand in a line during the work week. Weekends can get a bit busy at times.
Super fun mountain and lots of progression zones for advanced skiers and boarders.
Gets a decent amount of snow every season and nice cold temps creating pretty high quality snow.
Overall would give it a 8.5/10
