What Skiers Say About Big White

Big White attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from families with young children to advanced riders seeking powder and tree runs. The most consistent praise centres on champagne powder snow, minimal lift queues (especially midweek), extensive tree skiing, and a compact, family-friendly village with ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Reviewers frequently mention the resort's suitability for all ability levels, though several note that even green runs can be steep. The most common complaint is poor visibility during storms, earning it the nickname 'Big White-Out' among locals. Some reviews highlight limited nightlife and après-ski options compared to larger resorts, and a few mention higher prices for food and accommodation.

Big White is unique in the sense that you can come as a big group/family of people with different riding ability and still have a blast riding together, even on some of the same runs. Some of the best groomers Ive ever ridden, hands down.

The town itself is very small. Not too many options to eat out at or drink. But Snowshoe Sams is always lit. Head over there after your last run, then take a nap and come back again at night. Thank me later.

Really awesome intermediate runs, often wide open and cruisy. Great snow. Rarely icy. Epic, peaceful, scenery. Misses out on some great Apres opportunities.

Having grown up living in Kelowna BC, Ive enjoyed many seasons up at Big White. Ive grown and learned at the resort, which allowed me to experience different aspects of the resort at different skill levels. Big White is the most expansive and variable ski resort Ive ever been to. It seems to have a perfect balance between groomers, trees, glades, you name it. Big white is a resort that can cater to any skier or boarder. Not to mention unique terrain such as touring trails along The Cliff! The staff are overly friendly and cheerful, and always able to help you out when needed. The village is wonderful. It has a great ski-in, ski-out layout, and has a plethora of different restaurants, bars, stores, and other attractions to check out, most of which being family friendly. My experiences with lodging up at the resort were pleasant as well. Although it is more expensive to stay on the mountain when compared to their competitors, you really get your moneys worth in terms of amenities. It is very accessible from the valley base (Kelowna) with the resort providing shuttles from YVR daily, and after school ski programs for students from Lake Country all the way to Peachland. Not to mention Big White being a summer hotspot as well, providing an awesome bike park opened in somewhat recent years. Although the bike park is smaller than most in BC, it provides some excellent riding, with trails on-par with resorts like Whistler Blackcomb and Revelstoke.

Overall, I highly suggest Big White as a must-visit all year round for tourists and locals alike. Despite planning on moving away from the Okanagan in the coming months, I will not hesitate to visit whenever I get the chance.

This is a big city ski hill. Kelowna is the third biggest city in BC and is just 30 mins away. So expect crowds. However this resort spreads people out quite well, lifts are fast and has some fun terrain up high. Come here if you want a family ski vacation for intermediate and advanced skiers.

Big white is a hot-lappers paradise. With endless powder stashes, decent amount of drops, and the tree skiing is unmatched. Not as rowdy of terrain as Revy or Kicking horse, but the gem lake side of the mountain offers anything youll ever want, while being able to get 10-15 laps in in a day if you can handle that much lol

Bigwhite has a lot of fun runs especially if you are willing to explore the mountain but the runs are all extremely packed and you have to be extremely careful of kids crashing into you. The amount of accommodations and places to eat are really great especially if you have a family. Although for the cost of everything there and the quality of the skiing it would be more worth it to check out other resorts like apex resort.
