Big White Review Summary

Big White attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from families with young children to advanced riders seeking powder and tree runs. The most consistent praise centres on champagne powder snow, minimal lift queues (especially midweek), extensive tree skiing, and a compact, family-friendly village with ski-in/ski-out accommodation. Reviewers frequently mention the resort's suitability for all ability levels, though several note that even green runs can be steep. The most common complaint is poor visibility during storms, earning it the nickname 'Big White-Out' among locals. Some reviews highlight limited nightlife and après-ski options compared to larger resorts, and a few mention higher prices for food and accommodation.

Great mix of terrain for all levels . The grooming was very consistent and done well. Snow quality was good and lift lines were very short.

I spent a full 11 weeks here at the beginning of this year learning to be a ski instructor. I qualified as a level 1 & 2 CSIA ski instructor and a partial pass with my snowpark qualification. In all honesty, the resort is amazing! Skiing wise theres such a variety of different slopes for all kinds of levels of snow enthusiasts! Another reason why I loved it so much was the community round about. Everyone was very easy going, lovely and approachable. Its a great vibe skiing and amazing okanagan champagne powder.

I love biggie, its so welcoming and its fun that there is already a community that you can join in. Theres such diverse terrain there is always something for everyone, even after the hill has closed for the day. Another benefit , unlike most hills, night skiing is Tuesdays- Saturday

Big white is one of Canadas most underrated resorts. The tree skiing is next level, the powder days are endless, and the resort is a hot-lappers playground.

Big White is notorious for the fog, hence the nickname: Big Whiteout. Half of the days you cant see 15 feet in front of you, but it makes up for that with the deep soft snow and very little traffic. Id rather a foggy day at big white than a bluebird half the time, because it means the snow is going to be great and there will be nobody on the mountain.

Great substitute for Whistler! Cheaper alternative with equally good skiing. Just a bit further from airports for the international people.

Big White is a family type hill.. many many groomed blue and green runs. A handfull of blacks or hard blues. Varied terrain over a very large area. There is a bit of double black and some backcountry. It is primarily a family hill. Big White does have the best snow in Western Canada, but can very very foggy.

Overall it not bad, you can get some great days if you can see. It is nicknamed Big Whiteout ! If I was a fist time skier there I'd ask a local to share some secert stashes. It can be alot of fun tho and during the week you can ski right on to the chair lifts . The snow is usually nice and light which makes powder days great for all. It is worth while to try and is very family friendly with the most ski in ski out accommodations. Check it out !

Be wealthy or be ready to be ostracized. No real attempt at advertising of discounts or promotions, no partnership with non-profit organizations for underprivileged. Unfriendly lift staff and reluctant hill hosts.

Generally incredible snow conditions with terrain for all levels of ability. The cloud can be quite thick but being mostly below the tree line its always possible to enjoy even the foggiest of days.

Its well known for ski in and ski out accom and is well set up for a great family experience. Peak holiday times can make everything a bit crowded, but outside of the Xmas holidays its normally fine, certainly better than the craziness of many resorts.

Its biggest downfall is like most of NA resorts, in that its become prohibitively expensive, but if that isnt an issue, Big White could easily be your number one pick for a family oriented resort.

This exquisite ski resort will not leave you with any regrets. This is great for kids who are just learning to expert skiers with areas like the cliff and falcon which are filled with difficult powder filled runs to enjoy. This is one of the most accommodating hills I've been to. The food there is a touch expensive but it's worth it and Big White is also filled with tons of night activities and aprés ski parties. The night skiing is open to 3-4 lifts with 10-15 runs depending on the day of the week. If you have kids this is the place to learn with great prices for the ski school and different sections for different levels of skiers. If you stop by Kelowna, BC, visiting Big White Ski Resort is a must. This is also my home mountain and I'm 14 years old with 12 years ski experience and I am still finding new pockets of fun all around the mountain.

Bigwhite is a great resort for every level of skier.
There are nice wide groomed green runs and for experts very tight steep chutes. The powder is great and generally it's a really good experience.
Just some of the lifts are very slow and stop very often.
The terrain park is decent, but could be better.

Big White (more or less) delivers exactly what it says. It's big, and it's white (usually has pretty good powder). It's a large hill with decent tree coverage peppered about, and a pretty expansive village area. It has the typical downfalls - pricey, busy, hard to find seating in the chalets, but my biggest "culture shock" was the fact that the base runs have pedestrians just strolling on through them. With the big village and mass of private/rental cabins (right on, but also yikes) literally on the hill - there's people walking on the runs. So the base can get chaotic, and it's definitely one of the busier/pricier hill BUT the snow is good, a party is easy to find, and there's a lot to explore so you CAN escape the madness if you wish.

Big white has a pretty wide variety of terrain, from countless number of pristine groomers to some pretty large freeride lines. The chairlift efficiency is amazing and you will rarely see a line on weekdays and will never be in line for more than 10 minutes on peak season weekends. I love this mountain and there is so much terrain to play around it at all skill levels. I love you big white and I'm sad the season is over already.

With snow deep enough to need a snorkel , big white is the place for powder hounds that want to exert as little effort as possible to score the best powder imaginable. Its a really cool place , its just missing some more exciting steep lines.
