What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village
Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

One tip I wish I knew in advance - the maps near the lifts only show a portion of the nearby runs (can't fit it all on one map). So make sure to scope out resort maps in advance to see run levels that interest you. I found some of my favourites on the way out and wished I discovered them earlier. Will have to go back to explore more next time!
Lunch facilities were numerous and spacious. We brought our lunch and ate in a beautiful indoor heated picnic area with lots of space and storage options.
Overall an amazing experience in a spectacular location. Cannot wait to go back and do it again.
Awesome ski in ski out right on hill.
Best to go in shoulder season to avoid crowds and families
At the top of the mountains (yes, multiple mountains) it does often get icy and very cold, but the heated and enclosed quad chair does the trick to get you toasty again.
Unfortunately, this resort is getting more expensive every year. A weekend of skiing costs $500 on lift tickets alone.
But the off-piste powder and trails and long season make a couple trips a year worth it.
The snow conditions can vary but when there is fresh snow its some of the best conditions Ive ever skied!
The runs themselves are varied and spread wide across the resort allowing you to ski long distances between lifts and all leading to the central area where there are some good choices for food and drink.
The town of Banff is beautiful and theres lots to do besides skiing if its not your thing.
The eating options in the town are incredible and theres plenty of places to go out in the evenings. I would recommend The Rose and Crown on Wednesdays for Wine Wednesdays and Anejos for their happy hour deals on tacos and Margaritas.
