What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

This hill is either loved or hated. Personally, I don't love it. There are a LOT of flat spots for boarders, it's honestly just not that great of a hill in my opinion, for snowboarding anyways, but those that do love, love it a lot. Basic lodge services, lots of different runs. The bunny/learner hill is very, very short. You have to take a long gondola up to start, and back down after (you can ski down but there is a LOT of flat for boarders to come back down, you'd have to be an advanced rider to enjoy that part).

There was an ultimate amount of skiing terrain and not too crowded with people. The lifts were great and took us to every skiable hill. The snow was nice and soft. Very enjoyableas well.

The price of lift tickets keep going up but the resort hasn't seen any drastic improvements. Basically a decent place to ski close to Calgary.

Skied at Sunshine Village - Banff, Alberta, Canada on January 17, 2024. Runs were well groomed, lift lines were non-exsistant. We could ski right up to the lift and get on. Runs were wide open with no crowds on them at all. Stopped for a bite at the lodge and the food was reasonably priced and delicious. A great weekend of skiing! Highly recommend Sunshine Village.

Brilliant resort. Been multiple times and progressed from a novice skier to carving. So much variety of slope and signs are really good. Wide, long runs that are quiet. Hardly any queues even when we were there on a Canadian holiday weekend. Food is great, stayed in Banff and loads to do.

Sunshine Village, located in Banff National Park, is a stunning ski resort offering a great experience for outdoor enthusiasts. The views are absolutely breathtaking, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains. The resort is well-equipped, with a variety of runs catering to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. The ski lifts are modern and efficient, minimizing wait times, and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. However, Sunshine Village does have some drawbacks. The resort can get quite crowded during peak seasons, making it a bit challenging to find a quiet spot or avoid long lift lines. Additionally, the base area and facilities could use some updates; while functional, they feel a bit dated compared to other resorts in the region. Dining options are decent but not extraordinary, and food can be expensive.Overall, Sunshine Village is a great choice for skiing and snowboarding, offering stunning views and a solid experience, though some areas could be improved.

Beautiful ski resort! A true gem when visiting during American Thanksgiving as it opens early and is not a holiday week in Canada. Quaint village with plenty of restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend!!

Three peaks, epic views, lots of riding. The ski out is the best way to end the day and head down to your car after a day up top.

Sunshine is a fun resort that is close to Banff. Some of the runs are quite flat for anowboarders, but they are easy to avoid once you know the hill well. They have excellent off piste areas that are my favorite areas to ski at this resort.

We skied there twice last season. Both days were great, lots of snow and most of the runs were open. The meals aren't crazy expensive like some resorts. The second day we went with the school and did an hour lesson. The instructor was from England and was excellent all around. Would recommend Sunshine Village.

Sunshine is a great ski hill for Alberta. There are many different runs for skiers/snowboarders of any level. It can get very busy on the weekends so make sure to show up before the hill opens to guarantee a parking spot. There are multiple food options and their ski patrol and first aid are excellent.

Skiing at Sunshine Village is a must, even if the snow is poor quality. The views you get from any of the lifts are so beautiful it is A REQUIREMENT to ski there at least once. For what you get, the day pass isnt crazy expensive. Its family friendly, but also has a good apres area;)
