What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

They have the best snow in North America right now! Only 3/4 of the mountain is open . Goats eye is still closed , you can always find powder here! if your an expert skier and you get a chance , bring your avalanche gear and ski delirium dive! Ask someone to show you around this mountain for the secret stashes!

Sunshine - the ideal antidote to Alpine queues!
You get the feeling you’ve hired the piste for a day for personal use during the week, and there’s still plenty of room in resort on weekends. Fabulous snow, great groomed runs and huge varied terrain, with jaw-dropping views across the Rockies… what more can you ask for!
The best, best thing though is being able to ski or board all day long with no barriers, queues or bottlenecks across a beautiful part of the world.

Banff Township is a great base for accessing the Big 3 resorts of Norquay, Sunshine and Lake Louise. Pretty much solid snow guarantee even on an iffy season elsewhere.

Great mix from the Steep and Difficult (Goats Eye) to some fantastic cruisers to get the legs working. Top to bottom of run out at the Gondola is always good fun at Sunshine.

Fantastic bus network between resorts and village makes transfers a dream.

I personally love this resort! The views are amazing and there’s lots of groomed runs to explore. It’s not the best resort for trees, but there’s a couple sections to go off piste including the pretty wild Delirium Dive. Limited on-slope accommodation and dining. The easiest place to stay in in Banff town and get the free shuttle to the gondola base. Though the resort has a really long season and is the place to be after fresh snow.

It was 2nd weekend of season opening and there was lots of fresh snow, lots off lifts and runs open. Not a lot of people so the trails are not crowded and you can ski freely without worry. Some areas have lots of fresh snow and flat areas so be mindful and speed up if you want to ride through it.
Lodge food was surprisingly good. Fries are crispy! The only thing I think people should be aware of for the lodge is that your not allowed to bring your backpacks inside, there are racks outside to leave them. If you're worried, bring locks and take your valuables with you.

Great resort however lots of short runs. Some great cliffs and powder areas away from the groomers but they dont get the snow they used to and so often the whole resort is quite bare. But terrain parks always wicked and often goes up in level from the start to the finish of them.

Great ski resort for beginners or kids. Chalets are great but are often booked for private events. It's a busy hill but express chairs and lots of lifts keep lines short once you get up the gondola. Runs are short and open so not much for tree runs, advanced runs are just steep and often icy.

One of the easier hills in Banff if you dont mind the busyness of it then this is the place to be. Its been a month since Ive been back so powder might have gotten better but it was just alright last time I was there

My first time snowboarding was at Sunshine, great instructor. Memorable experiences, after that day I was hooked on snowboarding and trying other places to snowboard. I will plan very soon to come back to Sunshine.

Skiing Goat's Eye with fresh powder is an unbeatable experience. Sunshine can be a bit busy at times on the weekends, but the crowds are manageable if you know how to navigate around them. Lots of fun tree sections on each life and a variety of difficulty in runs no matter what level you are.

The two of 3 top of the mountain lfts at the resort are well above the tree line. Sunshine is known for sunshine on clear days but when its cloudy these upper runs can be consumed in fog and may have zero visibility. There are bright orange neon markers to guide you if you find yourself in a white out. There are no trees to use as a guide down the run which is kind of cool but you have to watch of other skiers or boarders from all sides, kind of like the wild west! There can be alot of fresh powder and there is terrain for all levels. Ive skied this resort for over 50 years and slso lived on this mountain located in our Banff National Park. Truely unique as its nestled high up in the mountains and the only access to and from is by a 20 min gondola ride. The hotel is original footprint but nicely renovated. Overnight stay there is magical and pristine silence.

Highest vertical in Alberta, this hill is much larger than Norquay and closer than Lake Louise is to Banff, with a short free shuttle. The hill is quite sprawling, with multiple areas and peaks, good for all levels - there's a smaller peak at Standish, big peak full of blues and blacks at lookout mountain, and difficult terrain at Goat's eye. Doesn't have the views of lake Louise, but a ton of different areas for all types of skiing. Less options for lodging and après (there are some though), but Banff is close by and and shuttle is free and fairly short (~20 min).
