What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

Ive been going for 6+ years and its my go to mountain, the parks are pretty good maybe not the best but more than enough features to have fun. Difficult terrain is available for sure. The lodge is good food can be kind of expensive.

High elevation means a lot a lot of snow. Only problem is it can get insanely busy. Other than that the parks they have are suited for all levels and they have all sorts of runs. Compared to somewhere like lake Louise they have a lot more beginner sections. Overall a great resort

One of the most beautiful places in the world. With views of the Rocky Mountain peaks and an irreplaceable sense of freedom. Slopes for all skill levels and styles. Lifts galore, with some heated and covered. A friendly and accommodating environment, with no feuds or gatekeepers.

Sunshine ski resort was an amazing experience for a beginner skier! There was something for everyone there whether you ski or not! The skiing culture truly shined at this resort where everyone was friendly! They had options for everyone as a skier; groomers or tree runs! For non-skiers there was enough options for apres-skiing in terms of food, drinks and shopping! Canadian culture shined as the museums were both entertaining and education! Would highly recommend Sunshine to everyone!

My favorite part about Sunshine Resort is how big it is! I can always find powder even on an icy day because there is so much terrain. And even on a busy day, the lift lines aren't very long! The only thing I would say is that conditions aren't always fantastic. If you go on the double blacks, they are at least ok, but sometimes the rest of the mountain is pretty rocky or icy. But, the park and groomers are always in good condition to ride. I do wish they had more beginner and small features and jumps to try though. Overall, great for all-mountain snowboarding.

So close to the town of Banff, this ski resort is fantastic for beginners to advance riders. Weekdays are usually quiet giving new riders a chance to progress quickly and try out the multiple parks. Not great snowfall all year round but still a great affordable hill.

Great ski resort for skiers. The views are amazing and the runs are awesome, but I had to switch from snowboarding to skiing because many of the runs are very flat and not fun for snowboarders

This is our go to resort for the family. On hill accommodations are truly an amazing experience. Can be flat for snowboarders or those unfamiliar with the mountain. Snow conditions are reliable and you almost never wait in line for any lifts. Good variety of terrain and for all levels! On a sunny day the views and skiing are hard to beat.

My favorite Alberta resort for how well it moves skiers. Typically has better snow than Lake Louis, although more runs are unfriendly to novice snowboards ( you can find yourself hopping up an unexpected hill if you can't manage your speed). Also the best views in all the Rockies.

I enjoyed skiing at Sunshine! The snow was good, the runs were long and there was lots of different options. Although the terrain park is difficult to find if youve never been there before. The chair lift and gondola up to the top are also a cool experience.

Weekday mornings are great, really quiet, freshly groomed runs. Can get really busy especially during weekends and holidays where you have to wait in long lines up to and hour for the gondola and 20 mins for lifts.

I love skiing at Sunshine because you could ski all day and not ski the same run twice. The park is vast. Start by getting off of the Gondola at Goats Eye. Take the Goats Eye Chair to the summit. Take the Sunshine Coast (Blue 70) all the way to the Wolverine Chair take that chair to the top and head straight down to the Tee Pee Town Chair. This is a domed heated chair that you take to the top. From there take the Men's Downhill run (Blue) all the way to the Great Divide Chair. It is called the Great Divide Chair because it passes through British Columbia and back in to Alberta. Take it to the top, only Black up there. Work your way back to the village where there are 4 more chairs for you to explore more runs. The only drawback to Sunshine is that if you don't have some momentum built up on a few runs, you will find yourself cross-country skiing for a bit. Not fun in downhill equipment. ENJOY!!
