What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

Windy. Not really much sunshine. That ski out run was pretty cool. Never did that before. Would go back for just that.

Love sunshine! Great for skiiers and snowboarders (once you learn the mountain) so many different options for runs of all skill level. This is one of the only resorts that run through two provinces as well! Youll always find powder no matter when you go, you might just need to run through some trees to sometimes find it. I really great resort and mid week season pass is $800! Great value! Mid mountain is always my go to for snowboarding as it has less flat sports for snowboarding!

Fun place to ride, need to know the runs so you don’t get stuck in the flat spots. Very busy lift lines and the restaurant is always too busy.

I’ve been a local at SSV since I was 2 years old. It’s an amazing hill for everyone. They have the best snow and rarely make snow meaning the consistency of their snow is natural and better than man made snow. By using a technique called “snow fencing” they are able to accumulate a lot of blown snow and fill the shallow areas with that. Sunshine has some amazing slack country and some amazing in bounds steep terrain. If you have the knowledge, gear and skill you have options of going in the freeride zones (delirium dive and Wild West) which are some of the best laps you’ll ever take.

First ride in Canada and it was super awesome. Went on a day that was snowing and the powder was magnificent. Lots of tracks and versatility. Tree runs are pretty tight for a snowboard but still fun. One of the best resorts on a good powder day!

It was a great day of riding. Lift went fast as the lines were all moving quickly. The snow was awesome with fresh powder being dumped as we rode all afternoon. Tons of runs and not too crowded made for an excellent experience

Really good snow out there and very quiet slopes. I went from Jan to April.
Not really Apres ski as the mountains shut too early, so you go into Banff town in the evenings.
Good food and plenty of sitting areas for family and friends and also has a good pub on the mountain.
Gondola ride up is about 15 to 20 so bare that in mind for planning your day.
There is something for everyone with the slopes being from easy to intermediate to advanced.
Good build of progression in the snow parks and you can hike into the back mountains for fresh powder, with there being plenty of other places on the main mountain to play in powder and try some tree runs.

Beautiful sights and well groomed hills, but as a beginner I thought the hills were very hard. There should be another hill between the bunny hill and the first green hill that the instructors take you. I didn’t take lessons there but my husband did and I could see the struggle. But if you already know how to ski and specifically snowboard, you’ll love it!!

Just spent new years in Banff skiing sunshine.
Stunning village, stunning area and views, its truly breathtaking, the single criticism I would have is how managed ot groomed some of the slopes are, it becomes tiring for all of the black runs to just be mogul.

Would definitely recommend people visit.

Sunshine Village is a great ski hill in Canada. With easy access on a 30 minute bus ride from Banff, or drive if you have a car. It's family friendly and fun for all ages with good run variations and a fun mountain bar for food and drinks at Trappers on the hill. There is also option to stay up on Sunshine Village at their hotel if you prefer to be up there for first runs with ease.

If staying in Banff, it gives you plenty more options for Aprés, shopping and dining out with great deals on food at different restaurants each day of the week e.g. wing Wednesday, good deals on Burgers, steaks and pizzas on designated days of the week so worth taking advantage of that. Plenty of price varied accommodation and very friendly locals.

Great experience throughout the mountain, everyone looking to chat to or help you. Great mix of nationalities on display. Tye ski school is expertly run and efficient, and there are a good variety of runs. Of you're up to it Delirium Dive and The Wild West are absolute musts.
Free transport to and from the hill is amazing and efficient, and Banff comes alive once the lifts start spinning. I must on every skiing/snowboarding bucket list.

Great ski resort! Would be perfect for any skill level and general skiing. If you’re looking for specific challenges with slopes or areas for tricks this may not be the place. But if you want an amazing hill to go have a day out in the slopes, it’s perfect!

Love Sunshine. I visit at least once a year from Ontario. I know many prefer lake Louise but Sunshine will always be my number 1.

Awesome resort for all levels of skiing there’s a big debate in town if lake Louise or sunshine is better. Lake Louise would be better for longer runs and sunshine for convenience.

Sunshine is a fantastic family friendly resort. The ski out option to the bottom of the mountain car park is such a lovely way to end the days skiing. The lifts are always efficient and with a heated lift- what’s not to love! We have visited Sunshine for a few years, the slopes are always well groomed and it never felt busy or over crowded. Whilst it’s been a few years, we will be back!
