What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village
Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

The Great Divide trail at the top provides access to alpine riding. Venture to the left and you'll find freestyle terrain, to the right you'll find tree riding and technical steeps. Following the right aspect you can brave the Delirium Dive and test your off piste prowess. Continue the fall line and you will eventually get to Goat's Eye, and entirely different playground favouring free riding and technical lines. Going to the left of The Great Divide you end up passing by snow parks and funneling back to the village where bars and restaurants the hub which everyone knows is Trappers.
On this other side of the main resort is Standish and Strawberry lifts. The terrain accessed here is less steep and but has some fun features to discover. Drops and tree lines become natural fun. It's worth noting that as a snowboarder you can get caught in the flats at the top of Wawa. Beware!
End the day by riding the trails under the gondola and enjoy magnificent views of Mount Bourgeau. End the day with a night out in the town of Banff and it's easy to see why this area is under conservation.
