What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

Honestly one of the best places I've ridden, so many choices of runs to take. Spent a lot of time finding tree lines and new routes, plenty of untouched powder. Great resort overall

A nice friendly Canadian resort with ample terrain to ski. When the snow hits there it seems to be endless powder and great terrain to surf through. Unfortunately when the snow isn't as prominent you have to be far more technical avoiding rocks and trees. The day lodge and food are good but a bit costly. The parking area is decent with easy ingress and egress from the resort.

Unique treasure in a Canadian National Park. Variety and excitement for all riders.

Blessed with a rare powder day in May it's not uncommon to have late season storms keeping this mountain active for weeks deeper into a season that's eneded most other places.

The Great Divide trail at the top provides access to alpine riding. Venture to the left and you'll find freestyle terrain, to the right you'll find tree riding and technical steeps. Following the right aspect you can brave the Delirium Dive and test your off piste prowess. Continue the fall line and you will eventually get to Goat's Eye, and entirely different playground favouring free riding and technical lines. Going to the left of The Great Divide you end up passing by snow parks and funneling back to the village where bars and restaurants the hub which everyone knows is Trappers.

On this other side of the main resort is Standish and Strawberry lifts. The terrain accessed here is less steep and but has some fun features to discover. Drops and tree lines become natural fun. It's worth noting that as a snowboarder you can get caught in the flats at the top of Wawa. Beware!

End the day by riding the trails under the gondola and enjoy magnificent views of Mount Bourgeau. End the day with a night out in the town of Banff and it's easy to see why this area is under conservation.

Went for a birthday trip with my sister right after they got 30cm of snow overnight. A little foggy in the morning off of the great divide chair so decided to stick mainly to goats eye to do some tree skiing. Some trees on standish as well. Overall a great day. Fairly pricey so we got the Sunshine Super Card to save some money on a lift ticket.

I had a bit of a hard time learning to ski there. But I didn't take a lesson. There are lots of beginner runs I stuck to, and that's a good thing for skiers like me. As I progress, there are nice blues that are also good to learn on.

As a beginner for my first time snowboarding on mountains I had a great experience. It was beautiful and it was easy to navigate. My friend stayed in the lodge as I went out and her and I were still able to have a great day together. I would recommend this ski hill to beginners as it was fantastic for my first time out West. It was a great stepping stone for me, and is also fantastic for families.

Have tried to make it out to either Banff or Whistler each spring with the family, and Sunshine is always my fav out of the resorts in the area. Though there’s not much nightlife (need to go into the actual town of Banff for that), the epic views and terrain make up for that!

Sunshine Village offers huge, world-class terrain spread across three interconnected mountains, with runs on both the Alberta and British Columbia sides of the Continental Divide. The mountain is especially celebrated for its long season (mid-November to late May), reliable snow, and breathtaking alpine scenery

Overall, it was really great. The only thing is that they don't have any way of like checking bags or anything to go into the main lodge so no bags in the food court area, unlike LL

First time at Sunshine after moving to Alberta and first time out this season. What a first Rockies experience it was had an unreal day, went on a Monday! The groomers were well kept and resort has countless runs for an intermediate skier like myself and the blacks I went on pushed me to progress. Tons of terrain to ski and if you haven’t been, there’s a reason it’s a famous destination. About 15 minutes from downtown Banff.
