What Skiers Say About Lake Louise

Lake Louise attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the resort's extensive terrain, including back bowls, tree runs, and varied difficulty levels. Reviews frequently mention excellent powder quality, minimal lift queues, spectacular mountain views, and efficient lift systems including recent upgrades. Negative feedback centres on inconsistent snow conditions with runs becoming icy between storms, expensive food and limited dining options, cold temperatures, parking difficulties especially on weekends, and a subdued après-ski atmosphere compared to European resorts. Several users note the resort works well for mixed-ability groups due to its terrain variety.

Really awesome, staff are so friendly. Worth the drive definitely! Wide open beginner area is probably the best in the province.

Possibly the most scenic ski resort in the world. Lots of expert terrain off the back side. Snow is consistent and very high quality.

Have been skiing at Louise my whole life. Has terrain for everyone, could be just learning and taking it slow or flying down a steep chute! The trees are gladed quite nice and on a good snow year there are a bunch of hidden gems to find some powder well after the main runs have been chopped up. The food and beer is great, even if it is ski hill pricing, and the new lifts that have gone in over the last couple years really spreads people around the hill. For western Canada the only hill that competes for steep and deep terrain is Revelstoke. If I'm being completely honest it's one of my favourite places on the planet, and if you catch the view on a blue bird day... you'll know exactly why. Couldn't recommend skiing lake Louise enough!

I love the mountains and had an amazing first time here. I was lucky and had a perfect powder snowfall in the morning that cleared to blue skies by noon which made for an amazing second time skiing in the mountains for me.

Scenery and weather was beautiful for all three days I was there not. Busy low down on the mountain but getting on to the blue blacks and especially double blacks things got quiter.

For someone who haven't skied double blacks they were very exiting and a good challenge.

Very nice facilities and staff and thing are run as fast and they can be to get you to the top of the hill as quick as possible.

If money was no object I would be driving out every month.

I hope to go again soon. Unfortunately I live in flat Manitoba 14hrs away. Hopefully this winter or next I get to go out.

Dont really have much of a review but it was a fun resort and I had a really good time while I was there. Theyre very good at keeping the slopes groomed and keeping the lifts running as well.

After Spending years hitting all the big European resorts we decided to give Banff a go. What can I say we had an amazing stay. Starting with the Hotel (Elk + Ave) hotel was clean, mordern and the staff were super helpful and friendly. The coffee shop attached to the hotel was great at breakfast time to perk yourself up from the previous evenings apres. Travel from Banff to Lake Louise was stress and hassle free as you can jump one one of the many coaches upto the resort. You have your own seat and skis/boards are placed underneath in the luggage stowage. Much better than in Europe when you cram into a tiny bus standing whilst being clattered in the face by skis. Once arriving at lake Louise you are greeted the main gondola and chair lift neither of which have much queue to get on. The runs at lake Louise are pretty tame compared with European standards and has many easy going blues but there is are some great fast and technical runs for the advanced/experts. This resort offered a good selection and myself and the party of 14 I travelled with all loved it (we are a mixed group of skiers and borders and mostly advanced level). The optiones for food and drink at lunch were awesome and again the staff were always super friendly and accomodating. The apres scene at lake Louise was lacking but this was mainly down to transport as you would miss your coach back if you stayed and an unfortunate result of this was no apres on lake Louise itself. Banff itself was fun for a drink with good vibes and friendly/ accomodating staff wherever you go. Great food available eberywhere and the beer selection was excellent.

In Summary

Lake Louise & Banff are a great place to ski if you want hassle free laid back vibes and a real chilled trip where everyone is friendly and helpful you enjoy a good mix of runs in a breathtaking setting. Until Next time Banff

Lake Louise ski resort is not one of my personal favorites in Western Canada. It is definitely a world class resort, with a large skiable area, but its often extremely busy, not great snow quality, not many good tree runs, and its by far the most expensive resort in Alberta (for a lift ticket and also for food and accommodation). Im pretty sure that Whistler is the only resort in Canada that is busier and more expensive than Lake Louise. Lake Louise is so busy that even when they do have decent snow, it gets tracked out very quickly. Also, the entire front side of the mountain (which is more than half of the skiable area) is in the sun all day, and often very windy, so the snow quality is often poor. This is just my opinion, based on skiing there 3-5 times each year for the past 15 years.

It is worth a visit if youve never been; if you can afford it. But if youre hoping to ski more for less money and less crowds (and better snow), you may have a better time at Revelstoke, Kicking Horse, Big White, or Fernie

First time in Banff and went to Lake for the most part as it had better snow than sunshine village, big area and great terrain variety, slow lifts but not busy so was fine. Stayed with a friend so not sure about accommodation but plenty on offer in Banff itself, cracking resort, having only been to Europe previously its slightly different in terms of avalanche control and run markings etc but great fun

Louise is hands down my favourite place to ride. With over 100 runs on multiple mtn faces, terrain options for every style and level of rider it cant be beat. The views on a bluebird day are world class and second to none and when it snows you can always find pockets of untracked snow to float on!

Lake Louise is a great resort for all types of skiers, the sheer range of runs available means skiers of all abilities are about to enjoy a great ski day - the jump from bunny hill to main hill can be daunting for some, but once you push through that youre able to enjoy some of the best terrain Canada has to offer.

From fast, long groomers, to steep, challenging chutes, and many tree runs - lake Louise has something for everyone.

We love Lake Louise. Once you take the gondola up the mountain, there are so many options to explore. There are some great little restaurants dotted around the mountain with some easy green/blues to get you there. Its bigger than you think and is a lot quieter when you are up on top of the mountain. Its probably our favourite in Canada just due to the beauty of looking out over the valley and the length of the runs which go on forever

By far the best resort in the Canadian Rockies in my opinion, theres nothing that comes close to it. If youre more advanced rider, it has everything youre looking for plus itll allow the people with you. Who are not as good to be able to get the same accommodations as you.

Louise is amazing, if you've had snow recently.

I wish I could love going to Louise, but as a boarder that doesn't do much park, I feel that I have to end up always going on either larch, or the main green/blue run down the front side. Everything else is ungroomed and can be heavily moguled, which is disappointing because some of the areas at the top of the hill are great on a good day (again rare since it's so dry).

The backbowl is supposed to be amazing, but again it just seems like it's moguled in.

I will say that compared to Sunshine, the mountain makes sense, I don't need to pull a map to know where I'm going to end up, and heavily trafficked runs are nice and wide.

And ofc the views, there's no better views than at Louise - that alone is worth the trip.

I have been going to lake Louise for a couple years. Great hill with friendly staff. Even when its busy its spread out and you dont wait too long in lineups. Multiple lodges to eat at with decent food for decent prices. They have a childcare at the main lodge if you have kids that need supervision while youre skiing which is awesome. Runs are well maintained and a good mix for all skill levels.

Arrived from Ontario on Thursday rode the mountain friday for a nice blue bird day, that evening the snow came we woke up for another day on the mountain with a fresh dump of snow and kept snowing the entire day, made for an amazing experience and awesome conditions the whole day, we were able to be one of the first few up the larch chair to a whole new batch of amazing runs
Over all an amazing mountain with friendly staff and great conversations everywhere

I did a tour of a bunch of hills out west and lake Louise was my favorite. When I first came in and saw the log cabin style chalet it truly amazed me. The park features had a great flow. It was like being on the play ground when I was a kid. The jumps had great flow and were well maintained.

Lake louise is one of the best hills is all of alberta, the runs are way longer than sunshine and theres a lot more aswell. Perfect hill for anyone learning how to ski or an advanced rider. Recommend trying the larch chair lift as theres a lot of jumps and always good powder. It does get pretty busy on the front side around afternoon but personally the back side is better. overall a really good resort that you should 100% check out!!
