What Skiers Say About Lake Louise

Lake Louise attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the resort's extensive terrain, including back bowls, tree runs, and varied difficulty levels. Reviews frequently mention excellent powder quality, minimal lift queues, spectacular mountain views, and efficient lift systems including recent upgrades. Negative feedback centres on inconsistent snow conditions with runs becoming icy between storms, expensive food and limited dining options, cold temperatures, parking difficulties especially on weekends, and a subdued après-ski atmosphere compared to European resorts. Several users note the resort works well for mixed-ability groups due to its terrain variety.

I was based in Banff villlage so all non ski topics are related to there. Skiing in Louise was lovely, amazing scenery, great setup of pistes and a wide spread of terrain for different abilities. Highly recommend.

One of our favourite hills, lots of terrain and great for all types of skiers and boarders. Love some of the new areas that have opened up and the new chairs.

Lake Louis has been my home resort for over 20yrs. The size of the resort allows for generally low volumes on the backside and higher up on mountain, meaning things usually arent skied out too fast, unless its a particularly busy day. There is terrain for everyone at Louise, with some lifts only accessing off-piste or expert terrain, and others accessing a wide variety. The snow cover is generally good by mid January and lasts well into late season. Most seasons you wont ski many deep days, but there is somehow always fresh snow to find, with verbally great snow all around.

Lake Louise is a pretty decent resort mainly a tourist attraction but compared to sunshine village it is more snowboard friendly less flat spots usually has a fair amount of powder depending on the weather can be extremely windy but all around its not that bad of a mountain.

Great resort for skiing in Canada. Love how there's a backside of the mountain so you get a 2 in 1 mountain experience. Lots of good powder runs at the highest chair and not too many rocky areas. Great value!

Great hill with lots of different terrain for all levels of skier, with plenty of option for those in the family that dont ski near by. Lift. Lines move very efficiently staff is very helpful for anything you need. Lots of available lodging with skiin ski out option or just being near the hill. Would definitely recommend giving this slope a try

The mountain is beautiful, especially suited to more advanced skiers and those who enjoy tree runs or even tighter groomed runs, but that said the whole backside of the mountain is just massive open bowls and wide carving spaces. Can get very cold if its a windy day just cause of the way the north winds come off the mountain. Probably less family friendly than other mountains that offer more variety to mid-level skiers.

Louise is generally a great mountain although generally plagued by the relatively low snowfall amounts. Due to snow being generally dry, it also does not stick well to rocks so you can expect to hit those anywhere off piste (and often on). Terrain is great, lifts are pretty good and improving. Parking is medium at best, and ticket prices are getting insane. That said, theyve done a good job making more food options available and you can even get a big plate of loaded nachos at a humane price.

I take my daughter there who is a brand new beginner. The ski school is great and affordable. They've helped her lots. The runs are really wide and there's lots of room for her to work on her turns. I'm not paranoid she's going to get ran over at Lake Louise like I am at Sunshine where everything bottlenecks at the bottom.
While she's in lesson I usually join the Friends of Louise who give free guided tours of the resort. I find it more fun to ski with people than alone and this is a great way to learn the hill.

Midweek late February and into March theres no better place to ride. Theres such diverse terrain and extraordinary scenery. If youre craving an aprè scene, Louise is okay but, Banff is close enough.

Lake Louise is a well rounded mountain with a lot to offer. Back Bowls allow for some various challenges and seriously rewarding drop ins. Accommodations are limited and the base/town is lacklustre. Aside from the chateau experience, eating out and apres ski can be better found in the town of Banff.

Will be getting out tomorrow. Generally a great hill, tons of skiable area and huge range of runs. Time will tell if this years coverage will allow for all runs to be open. Worth the trip.

Had a great time on all the runs, the gondola was a nice ride as the people were always friendly and made it a quick trip up. Hills weren't super packed. I'm an advanced skier, but I took snowboard lessons there. The instructor was very informative with good tips and a can-do attitude. Would definitely take lessons there again. As for the runs, they were well groomed, no brown spots so I knew my skis weren't going to take a beating. I'm not much of a trickster, so I don't have much on an opinion on the park. The staff were all helpful inside the ski lodge and willing to make adjustments to the skiis and boots when my girlfriend said they were not comfortable on the hill (she rented). A downside, was the maintenance counter outside with tools to adjust ski bindings or snowboard bindings was lacking. It looked as someone stole the tools or they weren't checked since a previous year. Unfortunately my girlfriend got hurt skiing, and a passerby asked if we needed medical and they went and got the ski patrol. Fast response on ski patrols part, we signed some forms and she was taken care of with a five-star review from her and myself. You can definitely catch me there this year, as I'm going for 4 days with some friends. Thanks for taking the time to read this, have a great day!

Last time I went was a week ago during pre season and only 3 runs were open, it was super dangerous because there was way to many people. Over 1000 people for 3 runs. Hopefully better when more runs open. Would not recommend pre season weekends.

Well firstly Id like to add that even though I spent my time riding at Lake Louise resort I actually stayed in Banff town, Lake Louise as a resort for snowboarding is perfect, its has a huge choice of runs from mellow learners to experienced double black diamonds all of which are very clearly signed so its unlikely youll end up taking a wrong turn and being on a run youre not ready for, the restaurant and bar at lake Louise is always busy but if you look around youll find a seat and everyone is more than happy to make space to accommodate, food can be pricey but it is good quality especially the coffee and hot chocolate. Where I stayed in Banff about 40 min coach ride away the is covered by your lift pass is a visual heaven, the sights around the town are other worldly epic mountains, Lakes and rivers provide the most beautiful scenes I have ever scene. Banff town is somewhere I felt instantly at home and welcomed and safe, I spent 11 weeks living in Banff and taking my CASI level 1/2 snowboarding instructor course at lake Louise and it was a commute I would happily do over and over, in my opinion lake Louise and Banff are the perfect location for anyones winter holiday, but be warned you may not want to leave.
