What Skiers Say About Lake Louise

Lake Louise attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the resort's extensive terrain, including back bowls, tree runs, and varied difficulty levels. Reviews frequently mention excellent powder quality, minimal lift queues, spectacular mountain views, and efficient lift systems including recent upgrades. Negative feedback centres on inconsistent snow conditions with runs becoming icy between storms, expensive food and limited dining options, cold temperatures, parking difficulties especially on weekends, and a subdued après-ski atmosphere compared to European resorts. Several users note the resort works well for mixed-ability groups due to its terrain variety.

Lake Louise is a nice ski resort. Its a decent size, and theres lots of runs. Most of the ones Ive seen are groomed, so not as much selection of ungroomed runs. There is a decent sized terrain park, and some good mogul runs as well. The gondola runs pretty quickly and efficiently. There are some great lunch and après ski places that have delicious food and good beer. Not my favourite ski resort, but still a good, solid place to go skiing.

Banff has the nightlife! Great food beautiful scenery and places to take a day off and visit. We had two big storms hit us while there and Lake Louise was over the top with snow!!!! There was powder for days! And very very few people! We got on a lift and we couldnt see anyone ahead of us and there was a couple of people on a trail, but we heard nothing!!!!!! No one hooting or hollering no swish of skis nothing!!!! It was amazing! Probably the best trip we have taken in a few years!!!!

Lake Louise is a great old school resort. It functions well and smoothly. The food options were decent on the hill. Top of mountain restaurant would be amazing. Nicely groomed runs. Lots of space.

Amazing variety of terrain and runs, some closed since we were there early in the season. Lifts were fast and efficient, snow was well groomed. Pity we didnt have a chance to try the bowls and off piste options, but looking forward to those next time.

Best resort in the Rockies. Great terrain, great snow. Louise has suitable runs for every level making it a perfect spot for ski trips. West bowl on a powder day cant be beat. And if you like glade runs, Louise has you covered. Its never a bad day skiing at Louise.

We visited Lake Louise early in the season. Snow conditions werent super our first day, but then it dumped 18 cms overnight and we had lots of powder to play in. The glades on skiers right from top of the world chair were really good and we lapped them at least 4 times!

I recommend skipping the gondola on the front side and going for the chair from the base. You can quickly get to top of the world chair which gives you great access to the back bowls. Larch chair is also worthwhile, especially after a nice snowfall. Both groomed and powder runs to be had.

If you get to the hill early, there is plenty of parking right out front. Lake Louise is one of our family favorites!

I've been skiing Lake Louise for over 25 years and it has always been one of the top ski resorts for snow quality and quantity of powder and packed with an abundance of runs at every level of skier and snowboarder. The facilities are world class and they're are ample accommodations on and off the hill to suit every visitors wish list.
The drive from the town of Banff is about 45 minutes and it is worth the trip believe me!
The only thing that I would say is to get to the hill early so you can get a good parking spot if you are driving up to the hill. Be sure to have your park pass visible when you park or you will get ticketed.

I really liked the Lake Louise ski area, it was quiet (especially compared to all the resorts in Europe) and there was quite some variation. I think the resort could be a lot more efficient though. The people at the bottom of the gondola taking your skis or board are nice, but unnecessary. Also the range of the menu could be a bit wider, maybe a pasta dish or a rice dish instead of only fried food? The restaurant at the backside upstairs was really nice, a bit more on the fancy side, but still affordable. Some of the lifts, especially at the backside, are a bit outdated and could use an update, they are slow and not really comfortable. But I really liked skiing here. Overall an eight out of ten!

There are two main parts of the mountain you need to get to know the front side and the back side. The back side is going to hold almost all of the big terrain runs including 9 gullies getting progressively more difficult, off of summit chair. If you dont mind a little walk paradise may be the chair for you, built in the 80s this three man chair allows access to some of the best resort skiing in the rockies!
West bowl cannot be forgotten, but please allow this terrain to get enough snow so if youre wanting to ride maybe wait for February time to roll around.

A staple for our life, we have visited Louise plenty as a family. It has gotten so expensive now that we are unable to go with any amount of frequency, unless we find some way that we havent explored yet.

This is my favourite resort and definitely the best in the Banff area. It can get crowded on weekends/holidays but the size of the resort allows you to find places that are less crowded (back side). The price increases in the last few years really make it difficult to enjoy unless you make a lot of money. I love it here but due to the price I can only go once or twice per season

This is my home resort. The front side is a great area to learn on and has groomed runs for any level. Park laps are great as well on the front! The back side and larch chairlift area step it up a notch with fun blue and black runs with some tree skiing too. But the chutes from the summit chair and backside double blacks are world class. With slack country and opportunities to get into the back country it is wonderful. The low snow fall is the only con but the snow sticks better than other mountains usually keeping it at a great quality level. Stoked for skiing
