What Skiers Say About Lake Louise

Lake Louise attracts predominantly intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders who consistently praise the resort's extensive terrain, including back bowls, tree runs, and varied difficulty levels. Reviews frequently mention excellent powder quality, minimal lift queues, spectacular mountain views, and efficient lift systems including recent upgrades. Negative feedback centres on inconsistent snow conditions with runs becoming icy between storms, expensive food and limited dining options, cold temperatures, parking difficulties especially on weekends, and a subdued après-ski atmosphere compared to European resorts. Several users note the resort works well for mixed-ability groups due to its terrain variety.

Lake Louise skews more towards advanced and expert riders, with large bowl areas and steep runs. If you are an intermediate or beginner level rider, there is significantly less variety of runs. These runs are still good quality with mixes of wide and narrower areas, and steepness. You probably will be able to cover the entire resort in 1 and a half days when everything is open. I found that the snow conditions here were icier than at Sunshine during the same trip.

First timer at Lake Louise and loved it! Very underrated and much less busy than Whistler. Make sure you check out the backside of the resort for some great tree runs. Good for all ski levels. Family friendly.

I love Lake Louise! The views are spectacular! We were there during the FIS racing event and you can feel the energy of the mountain. Lots of places to eat and Apre. Plenty of parking. I have observed how a bus load of employees would come to the lodge in the morning and line up straight for the hot chocolate machine. I think they give their employees free hot drinks which is really thoughtful.

Have been to Lake Louise 10+ times since our boys were 5 and 3! Our favorite is Larch Chair and runs from there. Love the fun at the Villiage at the end of the day! Great ski schools and day camps for kids. Banff nearby is a gem! So many restaurants and shops! Gotta love Canmore and area too! All around great family vacations for past 25 years!!

Lake Louise has always been my fave ski resort. The frontside has great groomed runs to warm your legs up while you wait for the Summit Chair to open. The backside is pure magic on a powder day. Lots of open bowls and places to drop in for all ski abilities. Lunch at the chalet near the Larch chair is nice and cozy. The Westbowl section of the mountain they opened up a few years back is paradise if you like a more offpiste open terrain kind of experience. No specific runs, just a big open bowls that split off into nicely spaced tree zones. Just a fantastic resort!

Lake Louise is extremely busy majority of the time with the close proximity to Calgary. If you catch it on a quieter day it is a great resort with a lot of different run options.

The experience I had early this year 2024 was amazing! I had all big 3 but Lake Louse stood up. The runs, the lift and service! I even dropped my phone and thought I lost it but they found it up in the hill. I recommend as must!

Long runs. So much variety for run types. Good dining options. New heated chairlift!
Backside of the mountain is a nice place for lunch as it doesnt get as busy as the front.
