I've visited the Big Bear Ski resort for 2 seasons, going about every other weekend. I enjoy skiing very much, however, the process of getting there is kind of hellish. You have to go super early to get a good parking spot. If it's a busy weekend, be prepared to arrive early and still have to wait in line for a tram to take you to the resort. The mountain is big and has several trails which is great! However, the lines are super long. Once you are ready to take a break and get something to eat, be prepared to drop big bucks. It is a very expensive resort. Lift tickets are about $100, even when the season just started and there is like 3 runs open, all with man made snow. It gets really crowded, and that gets into the way of having a good run. It works if you are from southern california, but it doesn't make for the best experience. The city also gets extremely crowded and the infrastructure of the city is very outdated. Unless you want to stay at a super old dingy motel, be prepared to spend a good amount for a small room. The traffic is also another huge issue in the town. If you have a Tesla or another electric car, know that there is little to no charging stations. The options to eat around as well aren't the best. Overall, unless you are looking for a one day trip during the week, I don't think this place is very special.

Big Bear is perfect for a festive weekend getaway from LA if you dont mind some crowds. The resort does a good job to put on a party at the lodge with live music some weekends. Lift lines got pretty long, but that is what you get for such a convenient resort. It still had everything I could want as an intermediate skier.
