very crowded and a small resort. This is a good mountain for beginners but leaves much to be desired for more advanced folks. Its the closest resort to the LA area, but definitely not a destination resort for anybody with other options closer to them.

I have been going to big bear for about 6 years now. The resort isnt the biggest but the park features are always updated, maintained efficiently, and unique to the resort itself. The groomers do an amazing job grooming the slopes at the start of each day, however, there are some slopes that are not maintained frequently and are not snowboard friendly (flat areas).

Grew up skiing here, so many great memories with family on Big Bear Mountain. Great place to learn for SoCal kids.

Really nice resort if youre only there to ski, but there is no apres or nightlife like at European resorts.

Its a common mountain for SoCal residents but is typically packed with long wait times. There are fewer options for runs but there are options for all levels. The ski school was not very helpful as my friends paid for the half day lesson and never got enough help, many times they had fallen and I, who wasnt in the class, had to come help them up. Still had many great runs.

It is very packed at the bottom and near the main lift. However, if you go to the outer edges of the mountain, its very easy to get away from the crowds and have a great day. Fairly icy, most of the snow is man made, yet still a great experience, especially for Southern California.

Im a beginner in skiing. I usually do the shorter ones because Im not yet comfortable. I felt the feeling of terror and excitement for the first time skiing up and down Big bear. It was scary at first but manageable. Hopefully we can go again this christmas.
