I've visited the Big Bear Ski resort for 2 seasons, going about every other weekend. I enjoy skiing very much, however, the process of getting there is kind of hellish. You have to go super early to get a good parking spot. If it's a busy weekend, be prepared to arrive early and still have to wait in line for a tram to take you to the resort. The mountain is big and has several trails which is great! However, the lines are super long. Once you are ready to take a break and get something to eat, be prepared to drop big bucks. It is a very expensive resort. Lift tickets are about $100, even when the season just started and there is like 3 runs open, all with man made snow. It gets really crowded, and that gets into the way of having a good run. It works if you are from southern california, but it doesn't make for the best experience. The city also gets extremely crowded and the infrastructure of the city is very outdated. Unless you want to stay at a super old dingy motel, be prepared to spend a good amount for a small room. The traffic is also another huge issue in the town. If you have a Tesla or another electric car, know that there is little to no charging stations. The options to eat around as well aren't the best. Overall, unless you are looking for a one day trip during the week, I don't think this place is very special.

Big Bear is perfect for a festive weekend getaway from LA if you dont mind some crowds. The resort does a good job to put on a party at the lodge with live music some weekends. Lift lines got pretty long, but that is what you get for such a convenient resort. It still had everything I could want as an intermediate skier.

Big Bear is a lovely mountain for those in the SoCal region just looking for a quick fix. If youre a beginner its a perfect place to learn, but more advanced skiers may find it boring after just a couple days (assuming all the lifts are open). The town is very charming and hyper local - it almost seems untouched by capitalism, though I would say the lift tickets are much pricier than is probably warranted given the scope of the place.

Big bear is a good mountain for anyone looking for some family friendly fun! I recommend going later on in the season like around Feb. Since it's located in California conditions are not as food in december. Can get kind of crowded on weekends. Overall good for the price!

Big Bear is a classic for SoCal natives and an easy to learn for newcomers. Park crew ALWAYS knows how to make crazy features. Ski school is top notch and unmatched. And the employees are the friendliest of any Altera resort. Right now not much open but when they get all runs going. It's endless fun and great vibes.

Bear mountain is where I grew up, so it has a special place in my heart, as well as being one of the only resorts in Southern California. That being said, when its not dumping snow, which is all the time, its a mediocre resort. Parks are nice, great place to learn, but not much for advanced skiers or powder hunters. Cheers!

I went there once with my friends, I think for park skiers or snowboarders its a great resort. However, if youre more into carving it doesnt have great slopes for that. It has a lot of great park features and jumps all over the place. The ski lift had long waiting times and isnt the best in quality.

Its a nice easy mountain to get to and close by to Southern California. However conditions are often sub par and given that this is popular spot in Southern California it is often crowded. I would say that runs are average in groomers and has a slightly better park than most other resorts this size .

very crowded and a small resort. This is a good mountain for beginners but leaves much to be desired for more advanced folks. Its the closest resort to the LA area, but definitely not a destination resort for anybody with other options closer to them.
