A truly massive ski area (Dolomiti Superski)all covered by one pass. Exceptional variety of terrain and runs - easily enough for a 2 week stay. The Sella Ronda circuit/ lifts provides super easy no hassle clockwise and anti-clockwise routes around the Sella massif. You easily divert off the circuit to connected areas/ villages. There are several World Cup runs to sample in Val Gardena, Alta Badia. The scenery is stunning with tree lined runs and rocky outcrops everywhere. Being in Sud Tirol means you get the best of both Austrian and Italian cuisine -with good local beer and wine choices. The people are warm and friendly and the service has been excellent in every place I have ever been over many years and many holidays. Accommodation tends to be Hotel or self catering with all accommodation within 10-12 minutes walk of a main lift station. A lively ski village with something for everyone! Highly recommended.

Val Gardena is an incredibly underrated resort in an underrated area. The Sella Ronda, which Val Gardena is part of, is a massive, circular ski area which offers a large variety of pistes, meaning a week is easily spent skiing without getting bored! Probably better suited to skiers who are confident on a red run, as when you arrive at the top of the main bubble, you are faced with some steep runs straight away. However, for those who prefer a quiet blue, the surrounding towns offer these in abundance, reached either by a short bus, or by a series of lifts and sedate path runs. On super cold days, there is nothing nicer than a heated chair lift and you'll be delighted to hear that Val Gardena boasts one of these! The town itself is built on a bit of a hill, so good shoes are a must for walking around town or just catch a frequently visiting bus! For the foodies amongst us, prepare for Austrian insipred meals, plenty of polenta and of course pizza. As this resort is near some great wine regions, I would recommend trying the local wines, my favourite being anything containing Gruner Veltliner
