What Skiers Say About Val Gardena - Gröden

Val Gardena attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders drawn to the Sella Ronda circuit and the broader Dolomiti Superski area. Reviewers consistently praise the extensive terrain, well-maintained pistes, efficient lift system, and dramatic Dolomite scenery. The quality and value of on-mountain dining is frequently highlighted, as is the blend of Austrian efficiency with Italian hospitality. Common criticisms include limited après-ski options, afternoon slush on lower slopes during warmer periods, variable natural snowfall requiring reliance on artificial snow, and some confusion with piste signage and maps. A few reviewers note that the resort may be challenging for complete beginners due to limited green runs and the need to navigate reds to access certain blue terrain.

This was my first time skiing in Europe. We got the Super Ski pass. Val Gardena is gorgeous. Lots of range in the runs and family friendly. It can get busy and the runs can get chopped in the afternoons (same at most other resorts)

One of the best ski destinations in the world, not much snow this year and they did an amazing job at using artificial snow and making the slopes quite perfect

Our group of 11 from Canada absolutely loved Val Gardena. The scenery, the mostly groomed ski terrain (amazing for us intermendiates), and even the advanced/expert skiers in the group enjoyed the superski), the food on the hills .....all absolutely amazing. I would hightly recommend the Dolomites as a ski destination.

So much skiing with endless choices and beautiful wooded pistes. Less snow sure due to times where the snow seems to reach the alps and not leave any for dolomites. Amazing food and great people. Not so much arrest ski, 1 main bar in Val Gardena from memory. Would still return 100%

Val Gardena is a beautiful, stunning place with lots of amazing piste skiing. The entire ski area (sella ronda) has so much to offer. The Italian/German mix of food and drink is the perfect combo and there is a wide range of costs when it comes to choosing where to have lunch on the mountain. The scenery is about as good as it gets for skiing, like nowhere else! I loved the whole place

Mid January was relatively quiet with no queues for any of the lifts. The runs are well maintained and the maps easy to read. The town is very accessible and there are a number of bars and cafes to grab a drink and something to eat. The bars and cafes on the mountains are a little busy as expected around lunchtime, but still move fairly quickly and the menus are very good.. Looking forward to going again.

We have skied here for many seasons and absolutely love the area. There is a huge amount of runs to try and more for us yet to explore. The scenery is fantastic, the lift system is first rate though some runs can have large queues. Local bars and restaurants are good in Selva (preferred resort) and the many restaurants/bars on the slopes are excellent, one in particular is always on our list of places for lunch.

Hotel was fabulous, providing a minibus to the gondola each morning. We attended ski school for a couple of days to get to know the area and blow away some cobwebs. Lots of runs, great connections with a mix of lifts. Bars were buzzing in the evening.

Fantastic place in the Dolomites, with a long skiing history and many different slopes. Very famous is the Saslong slope. Every year there will happen two FIS Ski World Cup races. Especially Ortisei is very nice, also in the summer, and can be the perfect starting point for wonderful skiing adventures.
Wirt the Val Gardena Guest Card the mobility by bus is free of charge for all the guests, and many guesthouses have included other interesting included options like the free entrance to the swimming pool or Val Gardena Active excursion program.
