La Thuile is probably the best ski resort at the upper end of the Aosta Valley region. It has incredible terrain variety, and its higher elevation and north-facing slopes hold snow really well. The main drawback for the resort is its access. The town of La Thuile is not as accessible as others in the Aosta Valley, and it is also smaller with fewer lodging and restaurant options. The best way to experience the resort is arguably to stay in Courmayeur and then take the free bus to the resort.

Tricky skiing conditions most of the week and competing with women's giant slalom professionals on the slopes! Stayed La Planibel half-board. Great accomodation, great food and choice. Rubbed shoulders with the elites in the dining room. Efficient lift and good slope variety. Skied over to La Rosiere in a whiteout but great conditions when we got there. Locals were lovely as were bars in Resort. Would recommend.

Nice village with easy access to the ski lifts and amenities, decent snow and runs, not the best for apres-ski more of a quiet resort.

La Thuile is seriously underrated if you like proper skiing. The pistes are steep, fast, and quiet, so you can really open it up without dodging crowds. Snow holds well, the terrain feels a bit wild, and linking over into France just adds to the fun. There’s no flashy hype here just big mountain skiing, great gradients, and that satisfying end-of-day tired you only get from solid laps. Perfect if you’re there to ski hard, not show off.

Perfect for a short trip / long weekend. Weather / lift permitting means you can ski into French side also, which is more challenging. La Thuile itself more suited to beginner and intermediate skiers. No lively Apres but some delicious and cheap restaurants, good mountain restaurant spots to choose from, and a couple of cool spots on the lower mountain and village for end of day drinks. Most slopes fairly quiet. A very family friendly resort. Skiied as a group of 3 (30 yr olds). 1 x intermediate and 2 x advanced skiers. 4 days was perfect for us, any longer and the more advanced skiers would have been bored.

Good value self catering accommodation at Planibel Hotel and residences. Close to slopes. Slopes well groomed. Mainly reds and some blues. Cold, as you would expect in January. My fifth trip to this resort, never disappoints.

Visited La Thuile in January 2025 and December 2025, high resort and so snow coverage was generally good, unfortunately in our December trip you were unable to ski back into the village due to limited snow. The runs back into the village are particularly nice.
Ski from Italy and into France, enjoyable runs.
Good mixed ability resort, plenty of blues to get you going and wide reds to test you when you’re feeling a bit more confident.
Lifts are generally efficient, a little slow but not a problem.
Nice on slope and off slope restaurants, although apres is fairly limited, this is a quieter resort.

La Thuile is a nice quiet Italian ski area, linked with La Rossiere in France. It has a good variety of runs, good beginners area, up to some steep blacks and wide choice of off piste areas.
The village has a great selection of resturants to suit all tastes and pockets.

We had a great time in La Thuile on the school ski trip. The kids were well looked after using the instructors and the slopes were perfect! Not too busy, some unreal views throughout. The food on the mountain was great, plenty of variety. 100% will be returning with friends this time

La Thuile Resort is linked to La Rosière in France, fairly easy to get back and forth between ski areas. Lots of cruisy blues, a few zippy reds and a fab world cup black , when it's not in use! Some narrow busy link slopes, especially at the end of the day, You can opt to take the gondola back down. Delish traditional Italian on piste dining my favourite was , Maison Carrel. Off Shore Bar is fab for views at the end of the day. La Thuile is more of a family style resort, with a lower key Après ski scene. Plenty of terrain to explore and high enough to get some decent powder. Ski rental easy and affordable, ski lockers can be hired at rental shop at the bottom of main gondola. Compact enough ski town that you can walk to and from most lodging.

We stayed in La Rosier, but ended up skiing in La Thuile most of the time. Even though it is not that large a resort but the way the runs are laid out give you a real sense of travelling. There are some great black runs lower down. Not particularly difficult, just a good blast. The Petit Skieur is excellent value for money to grab probably one of the best pizzas in the alps. I would place this as an excellent resort for a long weekend for intermediate/advanced skiers.

A small but varied ski area, with slopes facing in all directions. Up tip the blues are great for improving your technique and wide and cruisey. A good selection of red runs especially over at the St Bernardino pass usually have great snow.
The steeper runs, blacks 2, 3 & 5, are a proper challenge. La Thuile is also linked with La Rosiere in France, which has a much different aspect and layout. These runs are nearly all South facing and wide open. Don't miss Fontaine Froid, my favourite tree lined run there, just check it's open as it can suffer from lack of snow.

La Thuile has a good snow re ord and lots of varied terrain. Not a big area but as it's combined with La Rosiere it's a sizeable area.
Snow sure, cold pistes that are north facing as well as south facing ones give you lots of options. Plenty runs for beginners and intermediates to progress on and also good reds and steep blacks to challenge the experienced skier.

Great resort and good value, for families, especially Planibel Hotel to ski in ski out. Plenty for everyone as its joined up to La Rosiere for a larger ski area including a freeride area between the resorts. Great choice of on-mountain cafes and restaurants some within walking distance of gondola. Gondola access can get busy at peak times, but queues move quickly. Wide open blue runs for beginners up to testing reds and black runs used in World Cup racing.
Only draw backs are two long button lifts coming back from La Rosiere and the runs back to resort base seem to be either black or red - download by gondola is recommended for those tired at the end of the day.
Plenty of off piste, but advised that you must have full kit if you are venturing away from groomed runs.
Good rental and ski clothing shops, I had a great ski service at Berthod, bases and edges like new. Delis and supermarket for those self catering with good choice.
Ski school and playground for kids is in an easily accessible area at the base . Village centre is a 10 minute walk from the piste with some interesting shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. There is also a large car park for those visiting for the day
I have stayed in the resort twice and would definitely go back again.

La Thuile is a lovely resort, there are plenty of restaurants to eat out in the evening and the prices and really reasonable compared to France.
Plenty of blues, reds and short easy blacks. Also ski La Rosiere in France although there is a very long drag lift back to La Thuile. Chair lifts are bit dated and slow need updating !!
Al in all a very pleasant resort.
