What Skiers Say About Val Thorens
Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Plenty of off piste and snow parks to change pace during the day.
Apres here is the best in the world with loads of bars and clubs.
Getting around is easy with regular buses and fast lifts.
An incredible resort.
Didnt eat out much but when we did was 10/10
Although the resort itself has a medium variety of slopes for all levels, the true experience begins with the 3 valleys ski pass which is the largest * linked ski area in the world. You have access to beautiful resorts of meribel & courchevel which in turns gives you access to skiing between trees - something you will not find in Val Thorens.
Not the prettiest but the town has everything to offer, from lovely traditional restaurants to late night bars serving young individuals to the more upmarket crowd.
I recommend the red fox pub for a hidden gem.
Accommodation wise you can select from various options ranging from your standard studio alcove apartment to large deluxe apartments.
Off-piste is not the best in France but head over to meribel and this issue disappears.
Firstly it's the highest resort in the Alps. This means you have an incredibly high chance for great snow. It was nearly always bluebird or heavy snow. It's colder and the difference when you ski over to Meribel is very noticeable.
Apres is awesome. Often famous djs playing at 360 and follie douche is always popping on the other side of the valley.
You have a great strip of bars and clubs plus the biggest club in the Alps(Malaysia) with over 3000 capacity. Top of the range soundsystem and often famous line ups.
Loads of options at varying prices for dinner.
Plenty of ski in ski out ootions.
Fairly affordable but more of a lovely resort. You could do family friendly but you can also have a full send kind of weekend with mates
Best Apres in France with the whole of the 3 valleys to ski
Good runs and off listing if you know where to look
Orelle is a hidden gem for skiing!
Val Thorens its self is far above the tree line and is snow sure. It also boasts the best apres ski scene anywhere! Along side the partying there many family friendly restaurants, high end restaurants and cheap & easy take-away.
It also has a large sports centre and pool as well as a shopping centre.
For those looking for something a little different, try out the 4km long toboggan run!
