What Skiers Say About Val Thorens
Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Lots of green and blue slopes for beginners and plenty of reds/black runs for more advanced skiers and snowboarders, all were groomed and perfect to ski on. Value for money is very high from accommodation to après-ski and snow conditions were exceptional. Highly recommend.
The village is full of charm, the restaurants showcase some amazing French cuisine and then apres ski is simply next level.
The pistes are well groomed with a wide variety of runs available for all skill levels. There’s are multiple routes down from the tops of lifts making even some of the highest points accessible for different ability levels.
The resort itself neighbours Meribel and Courchevel meaning you can visit 2 other famous resorts for the price of one with your lift pass.
Val Thorens its self is at 2300m giving it great snow security into the early spring.
I absolutely adore this resort and will be heading back many more times
Was busy at certain times of the day and could be channeled on certain runs due to the snow conditions -but felt the resort did an excellent job of managing the snow they had to provide the maximum amount of runs. All very safe.
Sun was shining pretty much daily so not a lot of powder, but no trouble with pistes due to altitude.
From prior experience, Jan/feb can be a better time for some good dumps, and if you want more park or treeline stuff you can head on over to Meribel in 2 lifts.
